Overview of the Role
As a leading organisation on urban governance, Janaagraha strives to transform quality of life in our towns and cities constantly through better roads and footpaths, improved public transport with first and last mile connectivity, safe and liveable neighbourhoods, with active partnership between government and citizens. This requires a holistic systems approach. While we engage with policy makers and other stakeholders directly to pursue the much-needed policy reforms to strengthen the city systems, your role will be to ensure online sensitisation and providing vital ‘air-cover’ for our on-ground operations. We are looking for a highly creative and resourceful social media professional to design and execute impactful campaigns and rally citizens, policymakers, and changemakers towards reforming urban governance to deliver better quality of life in India’s cities. The ideal candidate would have a track record of designing and delivering successful social media campaigns. You will have hands‑on experience in content creation and leveraging a variety of social media platforms catering to select stakeholder groups
Job Description
The chief responsibilities of Sr. Associate/Associate – Policy Engagement (Social Media) will include but not be limited to the following:
• Plan and execute effective social media outreach campaigns on identified themes of urban governance reforms on different relevant platforms including X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp
• Design/produce high quality multi-media content (visual, audio, video) including posters, memes, video clips, reels, podcasts as required for the campaigns
• Develop and deploy effective messaging strategies that make urban reform a ‘happening’ topic, and therefore make the content engaging, relatable and shareable
• Track performance & adapt strategies using data insights for maximum reach and impact.
• Engage stakeholders beyond the post—turning online traction into partnerships, collaborations, and policy conversations.
• Work closely with our Policy & Insights team to turn research and on-ground learnings into engaging stories through high quality content and placement strategies
• Assist the leadership on other online and offline engagements with key stakeholders in the policy reforms eco-system
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Skill
• Hands-on experience in working on design and video editing software such as Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, Express, and Premiere Pro.
• Hands-on experience in adeptly using/deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Claude.ai and Veed.io is an advantage.
• Work experience in urban governance and allied areas would be an advantage
Education
• Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Digital Marketing, Mass Media/Journalism, Visual Design, Fine Arts or other equivalent streams from institutes of repute • Graduate/Post Graduate or equivalent in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Law, Urban Governance, Development Studies or other such relevant streams from institutes of repute preferred
Experience
2-4 years of hands-on experience in developing content and designing and managing social media campaigns, preferably in political and reforms domain
