Overview of the Role
For the aforesaid anticipated Project, Consultant - Cluster Coordinators are required at 11 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Based at the block level, the Consultant will work in coordination with the allocated CSO Coordinator appointed by JSI R&T India Foundation and will be responsible for implementation of project activities in the assigned villages (one Consultant - Cluster Coordinator for 10 ASHA areas) as per the project workplan. Key deliverables include mapping of intervention areas to identify zero-dose children, understand reasons for vaccine avoidance, facilitate registration of zero dose children, drop out and missed children through UWIN. Consultant will also identify community influencers and engage them for community mobilization in allocated geographies
Job Description
• Plan and implement project activities in the assigned villages in close coordination with the CSO
Coordinator and UNICEF field team.
• Conduct mapping of ASHA areas (using participatory appraisal methods such as Focus Group
Discussions (FGDs), Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), etc.) to identify zero-dose children.
• Identify the reasons for avoidance of vaccination and share the same with the CSO Coordinator for
development of a strategy to effectively reach out to them.
• Liaison with SMNET members to facilitate quality line listing by FLWs through Headcount validation
exercise in identified ASHA areas.
• Facilitate registration of Zero-dose children, missed and drop out children through UWIN.
• Identify and maintain a database of local influencers and immunization champions during FGDs, KIIs,
to support daily planning, on-demand session identification, identification of VAB families, and their
mobilization through a participatory approach.
• Identify community platforms in the interventions villages and engage with platforms such as Mahila
Arogya Samiti (MAS), Self-help Groups (SHG), Youth Groups, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), urban
local bodies, Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committees, Urban Health Sanitation and
Nutrition Communities and other social structures to mobilize communities and generate the
demand for vaccination.
• In coordination with SMNET, organize capacity building of community influencers and local groups
on the toolkit to reach out to Zero-dose children.
• Collaborate with local groups to identify local festivals, seasonal events, mela’s, key gatherings such
as Kisan Sammelan, Gram/Ward Sabha, and develop an events calendar to promote immunization
awareness.
• Organise community engagement activities(as per events calendar) in the assigned cluster of villages
with community influencers and SMNET.
• Regular follow-up with community influencers for problem solving and need based support.
• Compile data, prepare brief reports of activities undertaken and share with CSO Coordinator.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Skill
▪ Strong communication skills in Hindi and regional language or dialect, with ability to interact with
community members and Frontline Workers on a one-to-one basis and during group meetings.
Functional/ Basic level knowledge and writing skills in English will be an added advantage.
▪ Functional/ Basic level skills in MS Office with a prior experience in using mobile-based healthcare
applications and MIS.
▪ Familiarity with health and non-health partners, including their key personnelsuch as NHM, NUHM, ICDS,
Basic Education, MAS, SHGs, ULB, PRI, and field-level functionaries(ASHA, AWW, ANM), will be an added
advantage.
▪ Preference of working in teams with a diverse range of stakeholders
Experience
▪ At least 10+2 or above residing in the project district, preferably at block/village level. ▪ Minimum 2 years of field-level experience is required, especially working in health and nutrition in close coordination with ASHA, ANM, and AWWs at village/block level.
