Overview of the Role
As Senior Program Officer you will bring technical knowledge to advance the Concrete Program. Your role will involve aligning business and policy stakeholders supporting the implementation of scalable solutions and enabling data-driven decision-making. You will contribute to strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships engage businesses through the Concrete Zero campaign and promote innovative low-carbon technologies and business models within the Indian context. Reporting to the Program Lead you will act as a key resource responsible for identifying and communicating practical scalable solutions to support the sectors transition to a low-carbon future while working within Climate Groups broader business action and communications framework.
Job Description
The Senior Officer will report directly to the Program Lead for Concrete Program in India and shall
work closely with our global lead on industry system. Your key activities will include:
1. Project management and delivery:
• Contributing to the delivery of the Concrete Program in India by contributing to timely delivery of project milestones and deliverables including financial reporting budget forecasting and operational planning. A key aspect of this role involves supporting the Program team in effective project execution and documentation of key outcomes.
• Assisting in maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders in India and globally by coordinating regular programmatic reviews and reporting key insights throughout the program progress.
• Contributing to organizational learning and visibility by producing market research articles blogs and other knowledge outputs.
2. Program development and strategy:
• Engaging in our strategic initiatives on business engagement and advocacy including collaboration with industry associations coalitions CSOs NGOs research institutions think tanks and other industry-aligned programs.
• Coordinating with the program team to drive business outreach stakeholder engagement and membership design while maintaining close collaboration with global counterparts.
• Maintaining strong relationships with businesses to enhance their involvement in the Concrete Program and support the development of a robust membership framework in India.
• Documenting key insights from regular meetings between senior leadership and partner organizations to inform program strategy and alignment.
• Contributing to analytical and forward-looking inputs on emerging climate policy issues and the evolving role of businesses; contribute to briefings and representation of Climate Group at leadership forums and strategic events.
• Contributing to the development of high-quality research materials policy briefs and refine existing toolkits and engagement templates to support ongoing projects.
3. Fundraising and finance
• Involvement in developing new concepts whilst ensuring resources are in place to implement India strategy while also collaborating with the global Development team for new project and program development.
• Maintaining funder relations not just through impactful project delivery but also with regular check-ins and ideation meetings.
• Supporting timely financial reporting and budget forecasting related to the projects.
• Coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely payment of financial commitment from donors payments to vendors and monetary contributions from companies.
4. Communications and events
• Collaborating with the India and Global teams to ensure that communications and events align and support the aims of the project and the teams mission.
• Supporting effective external communication of the programs and their impacts through contributing to articles blogs X feeds LinkedIn etc. with support from India and global Communications teams.
• Representing the organization as and when required to external stakeholders in conference calls and conferences in coordination with senior team members.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Skill
We are looking for a strategic mission-driven team member with proven experience in program development stakeholder engagement and team coordination. The ideal candidate will have an academic foundation in civil engineering development systems and value chains complemented by relevant analytical experience focused on climate change sustainability or developmental impact.
The candidate who brings business research expertise in or related field of building and construction sector with demonstrated skills on project development across public and private institutions will be preferred. A systems-thinking approach to complex challenges along with the ability to build cross sectoral partnerships to drive meaningful impact will be a significant advantage.
Education
• Masters (or Bachelors with equivalent experience) of engineering or sciences in domains environmental materials structure chemical sustainability planning or relevant fields. • Demonstrated exposure working on industry decarbonisation initiatives environmental planning climate change policy governance or within a management consulting context. • Commitment to driving systems change and contributing to Indias low-carbon transition through innovative scalable solutions.
Experience
• Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative nature of research to produce industry relevant data perform analysis and documentation to catalyse business and policy outcomes including reports memos blogs briefs and proposals. • Familiarity with spatial and qualitative analysis tools along with policy-focused technical writing. • Experience in sustainability consulting carbon management or climate adaptation especially within large-scale projects or with corporate businesses. • Familiarity with GHG protocol materials carbon accounting embodied carbon markets and international standards for industrial decarbonisation. • Exposure to working with government agencies research organizations civil society organizations and international collaborations particularly in India.
