Overview of the Role


The Senior Director – Geopolitics and Government Relations (GGR), India role focuses on strengthening Nokia ’s engagement and advocacy with governments and key industry associations in India. This role contributes to business outcomes, technology thought leadership, and the company’s brand, values, and purpose.

Job Description


• Build and sustain strong relationships with government and industry stakeholders to help shape policy and regulatory environments across areas such as spectrum, trade, and compliance.
• Design and deliver advocacy strategies and thought leadership aligned with business priorities, establishing meaningful connections with relevant ministries and departments.
• Serve as a primary interface between the company and governments, regulators, industry bodies, and trade associations, positioning the organization as a trusted advisor on policy and regulatory matters.
• Track geopolitical developments and advise leadership on anticipated policy shifts and geopolitical impacts.
• Support enterprise business engagement with government bodies, including sectors such as Defence and Railways.
• Partner closely with internal teams across Corporate Affairs/Marketing, Standards, Strategy, Legal, and Business Groups, and collaborate with country leadership to align national strategies with business goals.
• Report to the VP of Government Affairs – India, contributing to both strategic planning and operational execution.
• Travel as needed and work across diverse environments, applying diplomacy and a hands-on approach.


Required & Preferred Qualifications


Skill

• Deep understanding and a proven track record of working with government departments and ministries; established relationships in India/South Asia are highly valued.
• Experience navigating government structures and processes, including business case and funding development, issue management, policy advocacy, and parliamentary engagement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Education

A graduate or postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in public policy, law, or a related field

Experience

15+ years of experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, or senior roles within complex geopolitical contexts, including strong government networks in India.
