Overview of the Role


The Chief Sustainability Office develops and drives the implementation of Deutsche Bank’s sustainability strategy across all businesses, infrastructure units and regions. It is doing so by designing the strategic framework, coordinating its sustainable finance activities, setting ESG standards as well as managing regulatory and disclosure requirements. The Chief Sustainability Office consists of four teams which are the Sustainability Intelligence Unit; Strategy, Data & Execution; Sustainable Finance & Governance and Transparency & Stakeholder Engagement. Sustainable Finance & Governance team ensures the application of ESG standards and oversees DB’s transaction pipeline from ES perspective. Process stability is maintained by a robust control framework in coordination with audit and regulatory teams. Regional ESG guidance promotes consistency across subsidiaries and branches. As an Environmental and Social Due Diligence Manager, you will be part of the Sustainable Finance & Governance Team within Deutsche Bank’s Chief Sustainability Office. In this role, you will be responsible for applying and further developing the group-wide frameworks for managing environmental and social (ES) risks in the bank’s core business, as well as for applying DB’s risk and control framework to sustainability related aspects.

Job Description


• Supporting environmental and social due diligence for new clients and transactions, as well as contributing to the classification of deals under the Sustainable Finance framework.
• Contributing to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of related guidelines, processes, training programs, and control mechanisms.
• Working closely with representatives of business units/functions and/or infrastructure functions as well as clients and external partners in order to coordinate and implement sustainability standards
• Maintain internal controls to manage ESG risks and prevent policy breaches.
• Stay current on evolving ESG regulations standards and best practices.
• Preparing presentations, reports, and analyses on sustainability related topics for internal and external stakeholders.
• Raising awareness of environmental and social issues and associated risks, and delivering training sessions globally and within your region.


Required & Preferred Qualifications


Skill

• Solid knowledge of current ESG regulations and guidelines, including Sustainable Finance frameworks.
• Good understanding of the management of findings and remediation of issues
• Minimum educational qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Natural Sciences, or a comparable field.
• Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of initiative and urgency, and the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines effectively.
• Comfortable working in an international role and dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a pragmatic, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Experience in leadership or mentoring is a plus.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial institution, investment bank, consultancy, or professional services firm, performing a valuation/transactional analysis with an emphasis on environmental and social issues and/or with a strong focus on risk and controls. • Proven experience in leading complex projects, such as the development and implementation of policies and sector guidelines or specific trainings.
