Overview of the Role


Program Lead – Health Systems Strengthening, under the guidance of Technical Director will provide techno- managerial support for effective implementation of interventions planned under Gavi Health Systems Strengthening -3 plan. The Program Lead-HSS will review immunization coverage in priority states as per directions from Immunization Division and track the progress on the action points in collaboration with immunization partners. They will bring strategic thinking for improving immunization coverage and support in developing and, implementing Gavi Health Systems Strengthening-3 strategy for addressing equity issues in priority states. They will also be responsible in coordinating with partners, track the progress and share updates on regular intervals with MoHFW. This role involves travel to the states as per requirement.

Job Description


• Provide technical assistance to the programme teams for the activities planned under the new India Gavi Partnership, specifically the Health Systems Strengthening-3 support.
• Identify, prioritize and assist in improvement of routine immunization activities to address gender and equity issues in priority states.
• Providing technical assistance for all components of immunization program including planning, capacity building, implementation, MIS and monitoring, with particular attention to gender and equity issues in high priority states and districts prioritized to reach the zero dose agenda.
• Techno-managerial support to review immunization programme in priority states & Districts through desk reviews of immunization data from various sources including HMIS, WHO Concurrent Monitoring, RCH Portal, AEFI, eVIN, UWIN, NCCMIS and other survey data.
• Provide technical assistance to STFIs and track progress on actions points in priority states
• Participate in state reviews of immunization programmes, specially the Gavi supported HSS-3 interventions, as per the Gavi HSS-3 Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Framework, in coordination with immunization partners
• Analysis and dissemination of immunization review and other associated data with state and partner agencies
• Technical assistance to state for prioritization of districts/blocks for targeted interventions and follow up on progress, based on findings of immunization reviews
• Liaise with state government and partners in states to support in driving the activities planned under Gavi HSS 3 support.
• Undertakes field visits to priority states to support government counterparts in periodic program review as well as to monitor implementation of routine immunization activities, with special focus on activities planned under Gavi HSS 3 support
• Study the on-going successful models presently being followed by states in UIP and design state specific models for implementation
• Techno-managerial support for urban immunization strengthening to inform strategy and plan for improving immunization coverage, with special focus on interventions undertaken under HSS 3 support.
• Provide technical assistance for new vaccine introduction under UIP
• Support strategizing, implementing, monitoring and review of Periodic Routine Immunization Intensification rounds- Mission Indradhanush & Intensified Mission Indradhanush.
• Develop the National Immunization Strategy for the next five years, in alignment with the Immunization Agenda 2030
• Carry other activities as suggested by the supervisor
• This job profile entails work related travel as per Project needs.


Required & Preferred Qualifications


Skill

• Good analytical, communication, teamwork, and coordination skills
• Proven ability in capacity building/training, program monitoring, and networking skills
• Prior experience in working on RI in urban areas will be an asset
• Good writing and documentation skills

Education

A Medical doctor (MBBS) with post-graduation in Community Medicine/Public Health

Experience

Minimum experience of 5 years (post PG) in Immunization or Maternal and Child Health program including immunization
