Overview of the Role
The role will support Essar’s Corporate Affairs / Government Relations agenda by enabling structured engagement with government ministries, departments, regulatory bodies and industry associations. The incumbent will work closely with senior leaders and the Corporate Relations & Government (CRG) team to facilitate stakeholder interactions, prepare leadership for external engagements, track policy developments and support on-ground coordination.
Job Description
1) Stakeholder Mapping & Engagement Support
• Support identification, mapping and prioritisation of key government, regulatory and industry stakeholders.
• Build working relationships with mid-level officials, secretariat teams and industry bodies to enable smoother engagement.
• Act as a facilitation point for coordinating meetings, forums, events and official interactions.
• Represent Essar (as appropriate for level) at industry association events and external forums (e.g., CII, FICCI), and ensure internal follow-through on action points.
2) Government & Regulatory Interface (Coordination + Intelligence)
• Support routine engagement with ministries/departments/regulators for project and business-related coordination.
• Track notifications, circulars, rulings and policy updates relevant to Essar businesses and prepare summaries/alerts.
• Prepare impact notes highlighting risks, opportunities and implications for the organisation.
• Assist with documentation, submissions and process follow-ups with government bodies as required.
3) Leadership Support & Engagement Readiness
• Support leadership during government / regulatory engagements
• Develop and maintain briefing notes, talking points, stakeholder context notes and background packs.
• Prepare presentations, communication material and structured follow-up trackers for engagements.
4) Relationship Building & Ecosystem Development
• Develop networks with: public policy ecosystem participants, public interest bodies (relevant and appropriate), think tanks / research institutions connected to Essar’s sectors.
• Maintain a contact repository and engagement calendar (stakeholder touchpoints, events, policy consultations)
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Skill
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build credibility with government / regulatory stakeholders.
• High-quality written and verbal communication (briefs, notes, presentations).
• Stakeholder coordination, execution discipline and follow-through orientation.
• Strong discretion, maturity and confidentiality mindset
Experience
5-7 years of experience in Corporate Affairs / Government Relations / Regulatory Affairs / Policy advocacy is preferred
