Overview of the Role


Tata Communications (TC) has been recognized as a leader by Gartner Magic Quadrant (Global WAN services) twelve years in a row now. This is by no means a small feat. A global digital ecosystem enabler and powering hyper-connected systems, TC is continuously expanding its presence in areas such as work from anywhere solutions, cloud and edge solutions, digital customer experience, network solutions, unified communications, mobility and IOT solutions, security solutions and industry specific solutions. These are new emerging technologies and involve a lot of regulatory intervention as well as demand right kind of policy advocacy from point of view of licensing, spectrum, security, privacy, risk mitigation, ethics, etc. The National Nodal Officer in telecom sector plays a pivotal role as the designated interface between Telecom Licensed Service provider and various government authorities and law enforcement agencies. The Nodal Officer is responsible for coordinating national activities related to security audits, technical inspections, regulatory compliance, cyber security incidents, reporting and often liaising directly with the Government (regulatory/ statutory bodies) and LEAs.

Job Description


Key responsibilities include responding promptly to government and authorised agency requests for network information, ensuring timely and authorised sharing of subscriber, equipment, and security data, and supporting lawful interception and monitoring processes as per regulatory directives. Additionally, the National Nodal Officer acts as the telecom provider’s official representative on cybersecurity matters, facilitating inputs and compliance documentation via the government’s designated portals and playing a critical role in enabling the sector’s alignment with India’s evolving digital infrastructure standards and security mandates.

We are seeking a dynamic and regulatory specialist to join our team as National Nodal Officer who will work closely with legal, technical, and customer management teams to support regulatory and technical compliance across the business. This role demands a candidate with both strategic thinking and hands-on experience in nodal operations who will serve as the primary liaison between the telecom operator and government/regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with telecom laws, security directives and act as an escalation point for urgent regulatory/security incidents; provide guidance for rapid response and proactive risk mitigation.

The candidate should also be well versed with the regulatory and nodal developments in other global markets as well.


Required & Preferred Qualifications


Skill

• Demonstrated experience liaising with government and enforcement agencies.
• Strong understanding of Indian telecom regulatory framework, security compliances and network security requirements. Exposure to global markets in addition to India & Other SAARC nations will be an added advantage.
• Discipline, integrity and diligence are prerequisite for this role.
• Capable to handle the regulatory and nodal activities strictly within specified SLAs from regulatory compliance perspective. Should be able to support the nodal requirements on 24X7 basis.
• Proven ability to interpret legal and regulatory requirements and apply them to business scenarios and company position on various policy issues.
• Proven track record to lead CFT driven special projects on compliance implementation
• Excellent analytical, drafting, documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills
• Familiarity with various regulatory bodies and their procedures - India, SAARC and Other major Global markets
• Proactive mindset, attention to detail, and ability to balance long-term strategy with day-to-day execution
• Excellent articulation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time efficiently, especially in stresful situations.
• Crisis Management handling experience
• Knowledge about the Nodal operations and reporting of key markets globally – US, Europe, Asia Pacific etc.

Education

Engineering graduate with additional qualification in Law / Management having exposure to telecom/product regulation, Nodal operations, reporting compliances, development monitoring, Regulatory analysis, research, and documentation is preferred.

Experience

10-15 years (in public policy, regulatory/compliance roles in telecom, digital services, or technology sectors) with minimum 8-10 years of work experience in Nodal Operations handling Government Authorities and Law Enforcement Agencies.
