Overview of the Role
WJCF is looking for an experienced, highly motivated candidate with experience of leading field operations in the public health sector for the position of Program Coordinator, Type 1 Diabetes (Chhattisgarh). The Program Coordinator will actively implement, support, and monitor programmatic activities, including assessment of public health facilities, understanding continuum of care for people living with T1D (PLT1D), and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders at the state and district levels, with the objective of identifying, designing, implementing, and monitoring uptake of interventions to improve access to care for Type 1 Diabetes. Job Description
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key leaders within the state health systems (including but not limited to Department of Health, Medical Education, Medical Corporation, autonomous government institutes), NGOs/developmental partners and other relevant stakeholders to support program implementation.
• Support in implementation of programmatic activities in Dehradun district in areas including, but not limited to:
• Assessment of public health facilities to understand readiness and identify gaps in service delivery for Type 1 Diabetes and define potential interventions to strengthen delivery of care/services.
• Capacity building of service providers (including pediatricians, physicians, medical officers, and staff nurses) on detection, diagnosis, and treatment/management of Type 1 Diabetes.
• Strengthening supply-chain of essential commodities including glucometer, glucose monitoring strips, insulin, and other drugs and commodities as required.
• Strengthening monitoring, reporting, and referral mechanisms by supporting development and ensuring uptake of prescribed reporting and referral structures, as relevant, for health systems / program sites and PLT1D, to monitor program impact and ensure adherence to treatment and care for Type 1 Diabetes.
• Identify and engage high impact channels to raise awareness / demand generation to ensure timely detection and diagnosis for Type 1 Diabetes. This includes capacity building of identified frontline workers, and other relevant stakeholders, to enable them in identification of symptomatic cases and mobilization to the health facility for Type 1 Diabetes screening, and support in development and dissemination of IEC collateral to support demand generation.
• Travel extensively within and across districts in the state to visit public health facilities or program sites to assess and monitor progress, extend support in addressing limitations / challenges to program implementation, identify key risks and mitigation mechanisms, and identify interventions to strengthen delivery of care for Type 1 Diabetes.
• Support program reporting requirements through facilitating periodic reporting on status, progress across key indicators, and program deliverables.
• Other activities, as required, for successful operational roll-out and implementation of the program.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Skill
• Strong government liaising and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to absorb and synthesize a broad range of information, including technical information, and prepare presentations and reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong oral and written communication; ability to effectively communicate with government stakeholders.
• Fluency in English and Hindi.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the state and across other identified states.
Education
Graduate Degree in Economics, Sociology, Social Work, Business Administration, Public Health, or related fields.
Experience
Over 5 years of experience in public health, preferably in the field of non-communicable diseases
