Overview of the Role


Provide technical support and quality assurance for Child Survival programs across countries under the guidance of senior leadership. Support program design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting by co-developing work plans and budgets, identifying risks and course corrections, and strengthening reporting processes. Contribute to regional learning through documentation of best practices, strategic updates, and knowledge sharing. Support resource mobilization through proposal development and donor engagement, contribute to portfolio strategy, and manage consultants and delegated financial responsibilities as required.

Job Description


PROGRAM AND RESULTS DELIVERY (80%)
Technical support and program guidance: Under the direction of the Sr Programs Director,
Technical, and working closely with the Sr GPD, Child Survival, and Senior Technical Advisors at the global level, provide technical inputs and quality assurance of program planning, implementation, monitoring, assessment, and reporting in the subject area.
Support will include, but is not limited to:
Country-level:
• Contribute to program design – support country team to collect evidence and information needed to inform program design, and recommend the most strategic actions for NI to take in each specific country context
3. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Co-develop Project Implementation Plans, work plans and budgets with the country teams, review and recommend for approval.
• Together with the Global Senior Technical Advisors, regularly review and quality assure
implementation and monitoring – take an active role in regular project (GIC) meetings, provide regular 1-to-1 support to country teams
• Together with the Global Senior Technical Advisors, guide country teams in identification of project areas that need corrections or require further investigations
• Flag projects risks to Child Survival leadership to tackle issues early and transparently.
• Provide quality inputs to reporting processes, working closely with global and country portfolio and MDL teams
• Support portfolio teams to access additional technical assistance as needed, both internally
and externally to NI, to:
o support country teams with their planning and preparation of TORs
o Identify appropriate consultants to support implementation, analysis and/or reporting
o Quality assure deliverables
Regional-level:
• Contribute to the documentation of lessons learned and best practices across countries
• Together with the global Senior Technical Advisors, “connect dots” within and across Child
Survival portfolio areas and countries
• Keep abreast of the regional landscape. Draft presentations, prepare and brief the portfolio
leadership (e.g. briefing notes, program and research summaries), prepare and disseminate
key takeaways to the wider Child Survival portfolio team (e.g. webinars).
• As required, support or lead other special initiatives
RESOURCE MOBILIZATON (15%)
• Contribute to the development of concept notes, proposals and meetings with potential donors.
• Support the stewardship of NI’s donors as directed or nominated, and in close coordination
with other units
PORTFOLIO STRATEGY (5%)
• Participate in regular team meetings, workshops and learning exercises.
• Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of portfolio level strategy.
• Analyze evidence to continuously inform the Child Survival strategies, program approach and
ambitions.

Required & Preferred Qualifications


Skill

• Analytical: Ability to analyze and interpret data for decision-making, program improvement, and donor reporting.
• Project Management: Strong project management skills, with experience in overseeing complex, multi-country programs.
• Critical Thinking: Ability to step back from issues and facilitate open, safe and inclusive dialogue
to solution-build
• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including good technical writing and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, external stakeholders.
• Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with key internal units and offices, and as required, implementing partners.
• Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to navigate diverse cultural environments and tailor solutions to country and regional contexts.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and ease with large data sets.

Education

Master’s degree in nutrition, Public Health, or International Development would be strongly preferred alongwith graduate degree in nutrition or public health.

Experience

• 10+ years of work experience with NGOs, UN agencies or similar working on public health. Of which 5+ years working on child survival and/or other public health nutrition programs delivered through the health system • Experience with results-based program design and implementation, and data for decision-making • Experience with mobilizing resources and leveraging other funds and programs to achieve greatest program impact • Experience with donor engagement, including budgeting, reporting, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements • Experience working with governments and development partners
