About GIZ India
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. We support the German Government in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. The current thematic areas of GIZ in India are – Energy, Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity, Sustainable Urban Development and Sustainable Economic Development. The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), as well as the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), are the main commissioning parties of GIZ in India. Other clients include Indian public sector clients, the European Union and foundations. Currently, GIZ has over 330 staff in India, of whom 85 percent are national personnel. The Government of India has launched numerous important initiatives to address the country’s economic, environmental and social challenges, and GIZ is contributing to some of the most significant ones. For example, it supports key initiatives such as Smart Cities, Clean India, and Skill India. GIZ, in close cooperation with Indian partners, devises tailor-made, jointly-developed solutions to meet local needs and achieve sustainable and inclusive development.
Overview of the Role
Serve as the focal point for stakeholder coordination across government, private sector, and international partners to drive pilot and scale-up projects aligned with political priorities. Lead strategic positioning of focus topics, oversee planning and delivery of technical cooperation activities, and support development of business cases for long-term viability and impact. Strengthen monitoring, reporting, knowledge management, and visibility through shared formats, high-level meetings, outreach tools, and communication products while enabling effective collaboration across participating countries.
Job Description
• Focal point for implementing stakeholders including Indian government institutions, private sector, stakeholders ensuring continuous communication and active collaboration.
• Responsibility for the strategic positioning and development of selected focus topics based on political priorities.
• Facilitate and support activities along with stakeholders under pilot and scale-up projects.
• Develop reporting formats along with stakeholders and facilitate common reports like updated factsheets.
• Develop monitoring formally along with stakeholders and generate common monitoring reports.
• Develop the format for collective assessment by stakeholders at the end of pilot/ scale – up. Facilitate the stakeholders for final assessment report.
• Responsibility for the preparation of high-level stakeholder meetings.
• Coordinate the implementation of technical cooperation activities (such as business-tobusiness meetings, networking events, conferences, workshops, surveys and studies) related to the joint Work Plan, incl. management of Indian expert contributions to the political dialogue.
• Develop and support business cases for implemented pilots and projects for future viability and impact upscaling.
• Managing and supporting the preparation, implementation, and sequencing of pilots & projects in cooperation with implementing actors from three countries.
• Knowledge management and Visibility: Developing inhouse and managing consultant to produce visibility products. Develop and implement visibility plan for fulfilment of the targets in the joint action in line with the visibility objectives and guidelines. Edit, proof-read, and format project publications and phrase messages in a way that is immediately understandable and appropriate to the intended target groups.
• Monitoring of results: Contribute to strengthening outreach tools for the TrC by supporting event planning, monitoring, data collection and reporting. Develop and realise monitoring report that communicate the project’s narratives, progress and impacts and raise awareness and interest of relevant stakeholders from the public and private sector.
• Networking and cooperation: Strong networking among the TrC participating countries, implementation stakeholders and international.
Other duties/additional tasks
• Undertake any other tasks relevant to achieving the overall objectives of the Platform, as assigned by the supervisor.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Skill
• Advanced skills in project management and designing and facilitating internal and external workshops and capacity building events.
• Excellent analytical, writing, communication and diplomatic skills, confident handling of politically sensitive topics. Ability to work in a multicultural and agile environment.
• Excellent proficiency in both written and oral English.
• Strong organizational skills with a clear sense of prioritization and efficiency.
• Very good working knowledge of ICT and computer applications, interest in the integration of innovative interactive digital tools into project activities.
• Fluent written and oral knowledge of English is essential.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Economics or other areas related to the programme objectives.
Experience
• 10 -15 years of relevant professional experience in consulting for high level political stakeholder and International institutions ideally with a technological, energy, digital, climate and/or economic focus. • Experience in managing complex multi-stakeholder projects in an international context, incl. private sector and civil society actors.
