Overview of the Role


This role focuses on community outreach and worker support by mobilising informal workers, conducting awareness sessions, and facilitating access to social security schemes and legal entitlements. It involves tracking and documenting individual cases, coordinating with employers and government stakeholders for grievance redressal, and maintaining detailed field records. The position also contributes to planning and reporting, working closely with the Centre Coordinator and wider team to ensure effective on-ground engagement.

Job Description


• Build rapport and mobilise informal workers through regular field visits and follow-ups in industrial areas, worksites, and workers’ residential settlements.
• Organise regular community meetings, outreach events, awareness campaigns, and workshops for workers on legal literacy, wages, occupational safety and health (OSH), gender sensitivity, and labour rights.
• Support workers in accessing entitlements by facilitating applications for social security schemes, ID documentation, and legal aid.
• Track and follow up on individual legal cases, ensuring timely documentation and resolution of issues related to wages, workplace injuries, and other grievances. → Liaise with local government functionaries, employers, contractors, and other stakeholders to support workers’ claims and enable grievance redressal.
• Maintain a systematic record of field activities, worker profiles, and case interventions; contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting.
• Work closely with the Centre Coordinator and WFF team members to plan field strategies, share updates, and ensure effective outreach among workers.


Required & Preferred Qualifications


Skill

• Proficiency in Telugu and English, with excellent communication skills.
• Expertise in project management and large-scale project implementation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Working proficiency in Hindi and English, besides Kannada is required.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office, mobile apps), familiarity with government application portals, and the ability to maintain field records are required.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to work in diverse community settings, including difficult-to-reach worksites and workers’ settlements.
• The role requires physical presence and travel within the field areas based on the needs and timings of workers and their communities.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings or late evenings, and travel within field locations as required.
• A strong commitment to workers’ rights and gender sensitivity is expected.
• Candidates residing near the WRC or willing to relocate to nearby areas will be given preference to ensure timely and sustained engagement with the community.

Education

Masters degree preferred (education, development studies, public policy, social sciences).

Experience

6 to 9 years of relevant work experience in the education sector, demonstrating project delivery and stakeholder management. Prior experience with state and district-level Governments is highly desirable.
