Northeast Centre for Equity Action on Integrated Development (NEAID) is a not-for-profit, apolitical grassroots organization led by people from the region to support development initiatives in tribal and rural areas of Northeastern India focusing on Quality Education, Health, and its determinants. NEAID’s interventions are aligned with sustainable development goals (SDGs) and designed in such a way that its programs complement the existing public system. Overview of the Role


The STEM project in collaboration with UNICEF primarily targets tribal and rural areas working closely with 25 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, 35 Girl’s and 20 Co-Ed Higher Secondary Schools across Dhubri, Barpeta, Darrang, Sonitpur and Morigaon. The project will also extend to other rural areas creating a broad impact among marginalized communities of Assam. The fellowship program is an opportunity for Assam’s brightest and most promising youth, to serve as educators to children and school ecosystem of marginalised communities in public schools bridging the existing gaps and creating the foundation of a bright future for the children.

Job Description


"1) Conduct Daily School Visits: Fellows will visit 2-3 mapped government schools in their assigned districts daily.

2) Deliver STEM Curriculum: Implement the Grade 6 STEM (Science and Math) curriculum designed by the program team, ensuring all topics, including self-awareness, gender empowerment, career exploration, and health education, are covered.

3) Facilitate Hands-On Learning: Encourage students to engage in experiential, hands-on learning activities, particularly focusing on girls’ participation.

4) Assist Teachers: Support school teachers in adopting new teaching strategies introduced in the STEM curriculum. Conduct small workshops or informal training when needed.

5) Monitor Student Progress: Track the academic progress of students by conducting formative assessments as planned. Ensure the curriculum objectives (21st-century skills, STEM knowledge, self-awareness, etc.) are being achieved.

6) Collect Baseline and End-line Data: Work closely with the Program Associates to conduct baseline assessments at the start and end-line assessments after the curriculum is piloted, focusing on 21st-century skills, STEM engagement, and personal development.

"1) Minimum Qualification: Undergraduate degree in any discipline preferably STEM. 2) Experience: Experience in the education sector is desirable. 3) Motivation: A strong zeal to work for the betterment of society. 4) Adaptability: Willingness to live and drive change in remote locations, being comfortable with staying and traveling. 5) Leadership Potential: Future leaders capable of contributing to educational and community transformation."
