Overview of the Role


The Program Manager – Strategic Communications, under the guidance of the Team Leader – Strategic Communications will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies for Routine Immunization (RI) and New Vaccine introduction. They will work towards increasing the program visibility by showcasing its achievements. They will explore opportunities to improve liaison with RI Partners and capacity building of different stakeholders on various aspects of strategic communications pertaining to the Universal Immunization Programme. They will also have the responsibility for framing monitoring mechanisms for communication activities and developing reports out of such data. The Program Manager will also have the responsibility of outreaching with the States to understand state-specific innovations undertaken and develop a strategy for cross-sharing such innovations wherever up-scaling is possible. They will coordinate with creative agencies and social media/digital media agencies to ensure the creative solutions developed are of high quality and standards.

Job Description


• Work with the Ministry and partners to create and implement a strategic plan for branding and marketing the routine immunization initiative under UIP.
• Design and develop innovative and effective tools to create awareness at the national, state, district and block levels, reaching to the remotest village of the country about the need, benefits, safety and availability of the vaccines free of cost under the immunization initiative.
• Conceptualize and develop communication strategies and plans for RI and new vaccine introduction.
• Develop capacity-building plans and undertake training on communication for immunization.
• Leverage additional resources, such as those available from partners, to widely advertise the UIP.
• Build capacities of states for communication planning, both for strengthening RI, AEFI surveillance and new vaccine introduction.
• In collaboration with partners, organize and manage the formative research, development, pre-testing and production of communication materials for various forms of media (print/electronic/traditional media).
• Conduct research on community needs assessment for studying social behavioral patterns for developing appropriate tools for the community
• Identification and selection of creative agencies, social/digital media agencies.
• Develop creative and production briefs for the creative, social/digital media agencies for the production of communication materials, and ensure that the creative solutions developed are of high quality and standards.
• Increase program visibility and showcase achievements of the program
• Any other task assigned by the Supervisor


Required & Preferred Qualifications


Education

Postgraduate degree (full-time) from a university of repute, in communications, journalism, or a related field

Experience

• Minimum 10-12 years of post-qualification experience in development communication, which includes designing, implementing and monitoring communication campaigns. • An experience of 4-5 years at t h e national and/ or state level in a similar role, and experience in public health is desirable. • Writing for different media, including websites and social media. • Proficient in English and Hindi (read, write and speak)
