Overview of the Role
IPE Global’s Social and Economic Empowerment practice works towards building girl capital, empowering women and nurturing resilient communities by creating inclusive and sustainable solutions, including but not limited to policy development, capacity building, adaptive management, community mobilisation, behaviour change communication, deepening social safety nets, beneficiary feedback analysis, poverty assessment, and evidence-based monitoring. IPE Global is hiring a Private Sector Engagement Lead who will be responsible for designing and implementing strategies to collaborate with businesses, industry bodies and employer networks to promote gender-inclusive hiring practices and expand opportunities for women in paid employment. The role will focus on building strong partnerships, securing diversity pledges, influencing workplace policies, and facilitating pathways for women to enter and thrive in diverse sectors of the economy.
Job Description
• Develop a private sector engagement strategy aligned with the Mission’s goals for women’s economic empowerment.
• Map current hiring trends, barriers, and opportunities for women in target sectors. Identify high-growth sectors and employers with potential for large-scale women’s employment.
• Create frameworks for gender-inclusive recruitment, retention, and promotion practices.Lead sector-specific engagements to foster inclusive recruitment and workplace practices across emerging sectors.
• Promote gender-friendly certifications and diversity indices among private employers to drive widespread recognition and compliance.
• Establish partnerships with industry associations, chambers of commerce, and large employers to promote hiring of women.
• Engage with private sector leaders to commit to diversity targets and inclusive workplace policies.
• Facilitate industry roundtables and policy dialogues to encourage sector-wide adoption of best practices.
• Devise public recognition mechanism for companies achieving or exceeding their pledge targets.
• Document case studies of successful gender-inclusive hiring models.
• Work closely with the State teams to ensure that the private sector engagement aligns with broader program goals and learning loops.
• Monitor and report on private sector hiring outcomes against mission targets.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Skill
• Strategic Thinking & Innovation: Ability to design and drive complex partnership models for social impact.
• Negotiation & Influence: Skilled in building high-level alliances with government and private players.
• Gender and Inclusion Lens: Experience integrating gender-transformative approaches into public-private programs.
Education
Master’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Gender/ Development Studies, Human Resource Management, Economics or a related field.
Experience
• At least 10 years of professional work experience in engaging with corporates, government departments, and donor agencies on economic empowerment or infrastructure delivery. • Track record of engaging with senior industry leaders and influencing organizational change. • Strong understanding of gender and labor market dynamics in India. Deep knowledge of gender-responsive approaches to private sector development and employment. • Familiarity with government schemes, ESG principles, and inclusive value chains.
