CHAI's mission is to save lives and improve health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries by enabling the government and private sector to strengthen and sustain quality health systems. Today, CHAI operates in 36 countries across the world and more than 80 countries have access to CHAI-negotiated price reductions, vaccines, medical devices, and diagnostics. Current programs at CHAI include HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, Maternal, Newborn and Reproductive Health, Diarrhea and Pneumonia, Nutrition, Vaccines, Health Financing, Health Workforce, and Cancer. CHAI also has a number of experts working across the organization to help shape global markets, to negotiate lower prices for drugs and health tools, provide clinical support and knowledge, and utilize the latest and best data and analytics to shape decision-making.


Overview of the Role


As a member of the Strategy & Special Projects team, you will work closely with CHAI’s Senior Leadership, including CHAI’s CEO, on high-priority projects that span CHAI’s diverse portfolio of programs and geographies. In this role, you will help deliver the long-term strategy of an organization that impacts the lives of millions of people in low- and middle-income countries. This role will involve supporting the operationalization and implementation CHAI’s five-year strategy; scoping new potential program areas; developing new approaches and strategies for donors, partners, and key external stakeholders; and supporting efforts to secure sustainable funding for new and existing CHAI programs. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the organization, support the resourcing of programs with transformational impact, and work closely with senior and programmatic leadership across CHAI. This position can be levelled at Manager or Senior Manager depending on level of experience. The base location is flexible to a CHAI program country, pending country leadership approval.

Job Description


Support CHAI Leadership and Strategy
• Work with the Senior Director and members of the Strategy and Special Projects team to develop recommendations and implementation plans to operationalize CHAI’s five-year strategy, including near-term strategic and operational improvements, and present these to the CEO and other senior leadership.
• Execute strategies to enable senior leadership to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as donors, partners, and board members, to advance CHAI’s mission and initiatives.
• Develop hypothesis-driven perspectives and build models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to guide decision-making, risk management, and strategic planning.
• Structure rigorous quantitative and qualitative analyses that include collecting, analyzing, and presenting data to inform decision-making, and monitor progress against strategic objectives.

Drive Organization-Wide Special Projects
• Lead cross-functional, high-priority projects that advance CHAI’s strategic goals (programmatic and organizational), with minimal supervision
• Build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders—including country directors, global program teams, and operations leaders—to resolve complex challenges and accelerate execution of strategic priorities.
• Identify emerging trends in global health and synthesize them into actionable insights to support CHAI leaders to build trusted relationships and proactively shape policy debates on critical issues.
• Apply strategic thinking to structure ambiguous challenges, guide collaborative problem-solving, and drive rapid, evidence-based solutions.
• Amplify CHAI’s programmatic impact and sectoral influence by developing communications and supporting targeted policy and advocacy strategies, lead strategic efforts related to CHAI’s policy, advocacy, and communications work.
• Scope potential new, high-impact program areas by conducting background research, developing quantitative impact models, and evaluating the funding landscape.
• Develop briefing notes, pitch decks, and proposals to secure catalytic funding for new and existing programs and initiatives.
• Produce high quality deliverables, including reports, presentations, and updates for internal and external audiences.

Experience

• 5–10 years of work experience in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment (e.g., strategy consulting, investment banking, pharma). • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, with the ability to present and communicate findings to a variety of audiences and senior stakeholders. • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. • Experience independently leading complex, function-wide projects and initiative roll-out, including optimizing team efficiency through process analysis and mapping. • Strong organizational capabilities, with attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Proven experience in engaging and managing relationships with key stakeholders, including C-suite executives and globally dispersed teams. • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. • Superb communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
