Akshar Foundation’s mission is the Eradication of Poverty, achieved through Education. To this end, we seek to implement the Akshar Education Model – developed at the Akshar Forum Model School – in government schools throughout India and the World. The Akshar Education Model transforms government schools into sustainable communities that teach underprivileged students how to earn a living, start a business, initiate development work in their communities, and heal their environment. Overview of the Role


The Resource Mobilization Specialist is responsible for securing the financial and in-kind resources necessary to sustain and scale Akshar Foundation’s mission of transforming education for underprivileged children. By leveraging innovative fundraising strategies, building strategic partnerships, and engaging communities, this role ensures the Foundation can deliver its programs—such as tablet-based learning, vocational training, and sustainable school ecosystems.

Job Description


1. Fundraising Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with Akshar’s goals, targeting ₹200 crore over five years.
Identify diverse revenue streams, including individual donors, corporate CSR, government grants, and international funding agencies.

2. Donor Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals, philanthropists, and corporate partners passionate about education and sustainability. Develop compelling pitches and proposals showcasing Akshar’s impact.

3. Grant Writing and Management: Research, apply for, and manage grants from government bodies (e.g., Ministry of Education) and global organizations (e.g., UNESCO, World Bank).Ensure compliance with grant requirements and timely reporting on fund utilization.

4. Crowdfunding and Community Campaigns: Launch and manage crowdfunding campaigns to support specific initiatives. Engage local communities to contribute resources in line with Akshar’s sustainability ethos.


5. Partnership Development: Build strategic alliances with corporates, educational institutions, and government agencies to secure funding and in-kind support.

6. Impact Communication: Work with the communications team to create donor reports, success stories, and marketing materials highlighting Akshar’s outcomes. Represent Akshar at fundraising events, conferences, and community forums.


Required & Preferred Qualifications


Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, social sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Experience

Experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or sales, ideally in education or social impact sectors.
