Overview of the Role

As part of the continued growth and innovation of our Social Impact Sector, Tarutium is seeking a talented, motivated, and driven individual to join our strategic consulting firm as a “Lead Consultant.” In this role, under the overall guidance of the senior management team, the Lead Consultant will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the assigned sector's projects and programs. S/he will act as project leader for all the projects within the sector portfolio and will guide staff in facilitating the harmonisation of activities with clients and partners to maximise results. In addition, s/he will take a holistic view of the sector and ensure project development, management, administration, communication, monitoring, quality assurance, and team development. This role will be critical in delivering and accelerating growth in the assigned sector portfolio by reinforcing a team culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and cutting-edge analytical insights.

Job Description


Project Management
• Lead the projects in substantive and operational issues, ensuring optimization of human and financial resources, nurturing a culture of results with the highest quality and performance standards, and ensuring complete client satisfaction.
• Undertake day-to-day project management, including effective implementation, monitoring, and documenting progress toward achieving outputs as per client agreement.
• Prepare work plans and produce timely financial and progress reports as the client and organizational reporting systems require.
• Lead project planning—with support from the involved teams and providing content expertise, crystallize objectives, milestones, quality plans, and deliverables and ensure the highest potential for value and quality delivery.
• Conduct field visits to the project sites and provide feedback and technical assistance to improve project deliverables.
• Hire and guide project teams in effective implementation. Aim to mentor junior team members and effectively align project experience with individuals' career goals. Also, manage the team towards effective and timely delivery of key and strategic projects.
• Facilitate procurement, approve requisitions, follow up on purchase orders and payment requests in relevant systems, and ensure timely delivery of project outputs as per client requirements. Adhere to the organization’s rules and regulations concerning finance, procurement, and human resources.
• Ensuring timely and high-quality client interfacing

Project Development
• Lead project development by preparing proposals and concepts with innovative and solutions-driven technical inputs.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with stakeholders (Government, WB/ADB/UN agencies, Private Sector, Foundations, donors, and others). Help in sourcing funding and human resources by mapping sector developments, policies, and programmes
• Represent the organisation in the bidding process, conferences, and workshops—support in effectively positioning the organisation as the preferred partner of clients and donors.

Learning and scaling up
• Promote identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned for organisational sharing and learning. Develop innovative concepts, position papers, and terms of reference related to specific initiatives/operations
• Lead and support an environment of knowledge building. Contribute to knowledge management by writing stories, blogs, and articles for newspapers and journals.
• Work closely with other practices, sectors, and regional units to operationalise agreed-upon plans and strategies and support them with logistics and technical inputs.
• Closely work with other colleagues in building the organization profile in sectors assigned and support in partnership building with Clients, Donors, Technical Organizations, Collectives, etc.

Skill

• Ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan, and execute projects
• Proven skills in proposal writing, project management, client management, quality control assurance, setting standards, procurement, and monitoring.
• Ability to provide excellent project delivery and client service, quality on project deliverables, excellent communication, and organizational skills
• Good research, analytical, and knowledge management skills, including report writing and presentation skills.
• Able to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders, including government, industry leaders, multilateral organization officials, donors, experts, etc.

Education

Post Graduate Degree or equivalent – ideally in a Development Studies/Economics/Public Policy/MBA

Experience

"• Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in project management and execution roles in a consulting environment or a related, equivalent field, preferably with corporate clients, government, multilateral, and private sector experience. • Experience in working with Senior Leadership stakeholders in a multi-national and complex environment • Proven experience in building portfolios and teams and having a good network with clients, donors, and partners. • Proven knowledge and experience of working in Social Impact Space with a multi-sector understanding, including entrepreneurship, skilling, public services, CSR, Gender and Social inclusion, environmental issues, and others"
