Overview of the Role
Deputy Manager-MEL will work closely with Lead- MEL and be responsible for designing and implementing robust M&E systems to track program performance, ensure data quality and support evidence-based decision-making. In addition, managing the MEL function, the role will involve research, documentation and knowledge management activities to enhance organizational learning and visibility.
Job Description
• Support MEL department in designing and implementing M&E frameworks, plans and tools in alignment with program goals and donor requirements
• Coordinate impact assessments or evaluations; oversee data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis and visualization using tools like Advance Excel, Power BI, looker studio,
• Experience in designing forms in digital data collection platforms (Survey CTO, Kobo Tool Box, ODK or similar platforms)
• Conduct field visits to monitor project implementation and provide technical support.
• Build capacity of program teams on M&E tools, data collection and data use.
• Ensure data quality through routine data audits, verification checks and validation processes.
• Validation of project’s data and sharing insights with different verticals periodically
• Support in desk research and obtaining secondary data for project formulation
• Support in designing and implementing internal assessments and need based studies to inform program strategies
• Collaborate with different verticals in Smile foundation to disseminate findings.

Education
Master’s degree in Social Sciences/ Public Health/ Development Studies/ Economics/ Statistics or related field.
Experience
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in M&E, preferably in the health/education/livelihood sector • 30% of the time should be travelling to project areas • Strong knowledge of M&E methodologies, qualitative and quantitative research methods, analysis and data visualization. • Familiarity with managing multiple thematic projects across diverse geographies • Excellent writing skills with demonstrated ability to develop reports, case studies and knowledge products.
