Sr. Associate (Skill Training and Decent Employment)
Aajeevika Bureau, headquartered in Udaipur, is a non-profit trust registered in 2005 with a vision to secure, dignified lives of communities dependent on labour and migration (www.aajeevika.org). Aajeevika Bureau operates through a network of facilitation centres and offers services and solutions to seasonal migrant workers and their families. These centres are based at the source (in Rajasthan) and destination (in Gujarat and Maharashtra).
Aajeevika Bureau incubated the Skill Training Employability and Placement (STEP) Academy as a specialised unit to energize, employ and empower vulnerable migrant youth in their search for decent employment. Headquartered in Udaipur, the STEP Academy provides training and employability inputs to rural youth.
STEP Academy has emerged as a unique space for youth from low-income families to who vocational skills and livelihood opportunities are limited. STEP Academy is acknowledged and recognized for its unique curriculum and targeting of youth at the threshold of migration. Its diverse skilling menu includes training in construction, light engineering, repair, commercial tailoring, services and small businesses. The Academy also provides employment counselling, enterprise promotion inputs and facilitating decent job linkages. Since its inception, over 10000 rural youth have been benefited by STEP Academy in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
We are strengthening our senior team at STEP Academy and are looking to recruit an experienced and committed professional to support its various training, learning and liaison functions.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking an experienced colleague who can become part of STEP’s coordination. The roles envisaged for this position include :Guidance and Supervision of STEP’s Skilling Initiatives
- Providing direction to skilling and placement programme
- Inputs to trainers, technicians and facilitators
- Coordination with STEP Academy, Udaipur
Market Linkages and facilitation
- Exploring new market opportunities and partnerships for youth employment.
- Liaison with industry and employers to create apprenticeship and employment opportunities for youth
- Sensitizing employers and labour intermediaries to ensure improvement in workplace conditions and practices for youth
Data Management, Documentation and Resource Mobilisation
- Overseeing STEP’s data and documentation for analysis and monitoring
- Reporting and presentations to the team and partners.
- Participating and guiding writing and reflections related to STEP’s footprint in skilling and employment arena
CANDIDATE PROFILE
We are looking for a candidate with at least 3 years work experience in the domain of skill training, placement and livelihoods. The candidate should be dynamic, enthusiastic and articulate with a strong commitment to work with disadvantaged youth and find livelihood solutions for them. Experience of working with youth would be an added advantage.
We expect the candidate to have a good post-graduate degree in social work/ economics / development studies/ management or similar disciplines. The candidate needs to be competent in English and Hindi and should have excellent presentation skills needed for networking and building partnerships with market and industry.

REMUNERATION & BENEFITS
Aajeevika Bureau is a field based non-profit organisation and its salary scales are comparable to professional, field-based development agencies. Depending on their qualification and a minimum relevant experience of three years, the selected candidates may be placed in Level 2 (Sr. Associate). This implies that salaries can be determined anywhere in the rather wide band of Rs 3.6 lakhs to Rs 4.5 lakhs per annum (CTC).

We do however have a dynamic work environment and STEP’s work is nested in a larger eco-system of labour services and rights work which makes the experience unique.
