Our Vision and Mission
– WomenLift Health envisions a world where diverse, accomplished leaders collectively transform health outcomes. To realize that vision, we seek to expand the power and influence of talented mid-career women in health and engage with senior institutional and societal leaders to catalyze systemic change for gender equality in health leadership. We work in East Africa, India, Nigeria, North America, Southern Africa and continue to explore outreach to other regions.
Our Work
Established in 2019, we work to advance equality in health leadership through a range of actions at the individual, institutional, and societal levels. This includes “Leadership Journeys,” which focus on equipping mid-career women with tools, along with peer, mentor and coach support, to successfully use their voice, expertise and leadership for impact. It includes pushing conversations and partnerships with senior leaders in health institutions, taking steps to prioritize gender equality. It also includes supporting/ convening global conversations about the importance of women’s leadership, amplifying the voices of national and global health leaders including at the bi-annual WomenLift Health Conference.

Position Summary
WomenLift Health is seeking an experienced, innovative and dynamic India Communications Senior Manager to work under the direction of the India Director and in close collaboration with their counterparts in India team, communications teams in India and other countries around the globe. The India Communications Senior Manager will play an important role in implementing WomenLift Health’s communications strategy and will provide support in content creation, stakeholder management and managing the overall communications portfolio for WomenLift Health in India.
This position will require high-level strategic thinking and strong program management skills to ensure planning and effective implementation. The incumbent must be a self-starter and self-driven learner; relish co-creating with a team; and demonstrate excellent project management and oral and written communication skills. They must possess a keen eye for detail, planning and organization. The ideal candidate should be able to toggle adeptly between working independently and in a team, and exercise clear judgment when delineating issues that can be managed independently versus those that should be escalated to supervisors. Keen observation, emotional intelligence, astute judgment and proficient management skills are critical to success in this position.
This recruitment is for 1 full-time (100% FTE) position and will report to the India Director
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Create and execute an integrated communications strategy for WomenLift Health across platforms, that supports India’s objectives and drives engagement with key audiences in India.
- Provide communications support to WomenLift Health’s core programs, including generating demand and planning application launches for WomenLift Health’s signature Leadership Journey, PowerUp workshops, and so on.
- Lead the writing, production, design and distribution of a wide variety of publications and collateral materials, including opinion articles, reports, press releases, newsletters, presentations, podcasts, statements and other e-communications.
- Support WomenLift Health’s internal communications, including preparing PowerPoint presentations, creating checklists and process documentation, and publishing guidelines.
- Manage media relations for WomenLift Health in India
- Translate complex health, leadership and science jargon to actionable communication outputs for a diverse pool of audiences and stakeholders.
- Support in the organisation’s story telling agenda in Indian context.
- Identify and facilitate new content opportunities, exploring ways to repurpose existing content in the WomenLift Health repository to position the brand’s thought leadership.
- Generate fresh, creative ideas for initiatives and campaigns across channels, and work with cross regional teams and agency to execute on them.
- Drive participation in WomenLift Health-hosted events through creative content and promotional strategies in India.
- Manage consultants, agencies, etc., as well as video content producers, and assign prioritized content projects. Support relationship with external groups through personalised meetings and outreach, especially with the press and influential media and social media partners, both at national and state levels.
- Bring a strong data analytics capability and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) commitment to the work to help inform and adjust the strategy, as needed.
- Set short- and long-term goals and measure effectiveness of the content on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
- Identify opportunities for WomenLift Health at important events related to gender equality and health in India.
Education and Experience (Required)
- Master’s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Public Policy, Public Health, Science & Technology or related field.
- This position requires at least 10 years of relevant work experience, with at least 3 years of independent portfolio management. Experience working in communications for non-profit, gender, women’s leadership, global health, media, academic or research organizations is desirable
- Experience with a diverse set of stakeholders and liaising with external agencies and vendors; a proven track record of managing deadlines; and an aptitude for multimedia content production
- Proven experience in executing communications strategies
- Ability to think analytically and strategically and work under tight deadlines
- Proven leadership and experience managing and building a team
Knowledge, skills and abilities (Required)
- Communication skills: Detail-oriented, with excellent writing, copy-editing and interpersonal skills. Deep understanding of the key principles of communicating messages in ways that non-technical audiences can understand. The incumbent needs to be precise, clear and creative
- Organization: Excellent strategic thinking and ability to handle multiple projects at once, meet deadlines and effectively manage time. Is able to bring consistently high levels of thoroughness and initiative to all projects undertaken
- Demonstrated success in following through and successfully completing projects in a timely manner
- Interpersonal skills: Proven ability to collaborate and co-create with international teams and with clients and external stakeholders
- Experience in working with diverse stakeholders from different sectors, cultures, religions and disciplines
- Depth of experience, maturity, confidence, ability to learn and adapt, and give and receive feedback
- Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
- Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision
- Experience with web content management systems
- Familiarity with content creation tools (Adobe suite, Canva, etc.)
- Experience with analytics software, Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics, as well as social media platform reporting
- Ability to exercise cultural competency and work respectfully with a diverse team across varied cultures, geographies and time zones
