CSTEP
The Senior Associate will play a key role in engaging with stakeholders like governments, industry, and civil society organisations involved in air-quality monitoring and governance. She/he will also lead a review of academic literature and best practices to generate research outputs with a focus on air-quality indicators and their implementation and evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Undertake action-focused research involving stakeholder mapping, engagement, and policy-focused analysis.
- Perform policy gap analysis and understand the drivers of policy change, using literature review and stakeholder feedback.
- Develop air-quality indicators that are useful for Indian contexts, working closely with the Atmospheric Composition Observations and Modelling teams.
- Organise and conduct capacity building exercises to use existing indicators of air quality and make it relevant/usable/monitorable in work in the context of regulators, policymakers, or civil society organisations.
Qualifications
- Master's in Public Policy/Environmental Economics/Engineering & Public Policy (EPP) or a similar discipline.
Experience
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience. [Candidates with fewer years of work experience can be considered for a junior role].
- Experience in climate and air pollution issues is preferred.
Skill Set
- Sound knowledge of NCAP, city action plans, 15th finance commission reporting, and all matters related to air-quality management and policy in India.
- Adequate familiarity with climate and air pollution issues.
- Ability to develop monitoring and evaluation (MEL) frameworks for policy implementation.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Quick learner and methodical in documentation, with an ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in financial modelling/techno-economic assessment will be a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English. Ability to speak and write fluently in Kannada or Punjabi/Gurmukhi or another regional language will be a plus.
