About the role
AVPN’s Gender Equality Platform (GEP) is committed to moving capital at scale towards women and girls in Asia. GEP’s overall vision is to identify and support a generation of gender equality funders and leaders in Asia and mobilise resources across the continuum of capital to close systematic gender gaps in the region. To achieve these outcomes, GEP supports its funders across the capital continuum by strengthening the philanthropic landscape to promote gender equal outcomes, by advocating for and supporting investor action on financing for gender equality, and furthering investor action at the intersection of gender with climate and health.
GEP’s Senior Associate will support the team to better engage with and deliver on the platform’s funders’ and AVPN members’ needs. They will support and lead a range of tasks as required to design, manage, and deliver GEP programmes effectively and to scope, deepen, and grow GEP’s portfolio through new partnerships. This position will report to the Director, Gender Equality Platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the GEP team in project planning and delivery of milestones on key GEP projects, including developing work plans, managing project budgets, communications, procurement processes, and in monitoring project performance to meet project objectives.
- Support the the design and delivery of gender track events at AVPN signature events and the curation and delivery of investor roundtables and engagements through creation of content, facilitation at events, and other support, as needed.
- Support the GEP team in identifying new opportunities for partnership and collaboration with existing and potential funders and members.
- Work with the GEP and relevant AVPN teams to scope emerging leads and provide support in developing concept notes and proposals.
- Support the GEP Director in managing data inputs to assess progress on GEP's annual plans, support on funder reporting requirements, support the team with analytical inputs, and ensure that all information on member engagement activities are accurately recorded and maintained in relevant AVPN databases.
Qualifications and required skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as economics, development studies, business administration, public policy, or a relevant field with domain expertise on gender issues, particularly women’s economic empowerment, gendered access to resources and finance, gender and health and climate, and the care economy.
- Knowledge of gender lens investing, impact investing, and sustainable finance concepts and sectors is highly desired but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of the social impact sector in Asia (philanthropy, impact investing, blended finance, etc.)
- Experience of project and grant management and strong operational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritise effectively
- Experience of market scoping activities and of development of proposals, concept notes, and other relevant collateral to develop new collaborations and projects.
- Previous experience of developing and/or supporting collaborative investor action.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated attention to detail and focus on producing high-quality deliverables.
- Strong written and spoken English.
