Position - Research Assistant - Protests and Public Opinion
Amory Gethin and Vincent Pons are looking to hire a research assistant to work on a project on protests and public opinion in the United States.
Project Description
Recent social movements stand out by their spontaneous nature and lack of stable leadership, raising doubts on their ability to generate political change. The objective of this project is to evaluate the effects of recent protest waves in the United States on general interest towards the issues raised by protesters, policy views, voting intentions, and other political outcomes.
Research Assistant Position
The research assistant will contribute to collecting and harmonizing data related to recent protests in the United States and their impact on a battery of political outcomes. The research assistant will also participate in the preliminary analysis of these datasets.
The position is a good opportunity for the research assistant to develop advanced experience in data harmonization and analysis, as well as good knowledge of the methods and data sources used in political economy.
Modalities
The position can be part-time or full-time (minimum 15 hours per week).
The contract will last until January 2025, with a possible extension beyond that.
Qualifications
Excellent Stata coding skills.
Graduate student in economics, political science, or related fields.
