๐ข We're hiring a Research Assistant (1-yr contract)!
To support the research and other ad hoc activities of the Instituteโs Director and staff. These coalesce into 3 overlapping work strands:
- Provide research support for the development of an Institute-published report on Southeast Asian cities. This will involve, but not be limited to, compiling databases of existing reports and other supporting materials, identifying and approaching potential interviewees, conducting interviews alongside the Director, transcribing interviews, and developing the report.
- Provide research support for the Directorโs urban-related research projects. This will involve conducting literature reviews, developing sampling networks, and interview transcription.
- Provide administrative support for the running of the Institute. This will include help with organising events (lectures, workshops and seminars), arranging meetings with Pillar Leads and Urban Fellows, taking minutes and other ad hoc tasks.
The RA will work with the Director to promote the Instituteโs research, branding, and outreach-related initiatives.
The Job Scope Involves:
For Work Strand 1: Compiling databases of existing reports and other supporting materials, identifying and approaching potential interviewees, conducting interviews alongside the Director, transcribing interviews, and developing the report.
For Work Strand 2: Conducting literature reviews, developing sampling networks, and interview transcription. An ability to conduct bibliometric analyses is preferred, but not mandatory.
For Work Strand 3: Organising events (lectures, workshops and seminars), arranging meetings with Pillar Leads and Urban Fellows, taking minutes and other ad hoc tasks.

The successful applicant will ideally have:
โ Experience conducting qualitative research, preferably amongst senior stakeholders
โ Excellent writing and communication skills
โ Organised, detail-oriented and motivated to learn
โ Demonstrated interest in issues related to cities, urban transformation, and Southeast Asia
