In Asia, Nutrition International’s work pans across its core intervention countries of Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Philippines. Nutrition International works with governments of these countries to implement proven nutrition interventions that can improve health and nutrition outcomes of newborns, children, women, girls and general population. The key interventions of Nutrition International are carried out in the areas of micronutrients supplementation, food fortification, women and girl’s nutrition, maternal and newborn health, salt iodization, infant and young child nutrition, and evidence generation and policy.  

Objective

The objectives of this assignment are as follows:

The consultant will work closely with the Regional Director, Asia to support the effective implementation of strategic initiatives within the region. This role is critical to ensure high-quality deliverables and timely execution of activities related to internal and external stakeholder engagement, programmatic facilitation, and strategic communications. 

Scope of work

The consultant’s main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Planning, Coordination & Execution: Support the Regional Director in planning, coordinating and execution of strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals and track their progress. 
  • Drafting High-Quality Idea/Concept Notes: Develop concise, compelling, and well-researched Idea/concept notes to support strategic opportunities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Facilitating Stakeholder Coordination and Meetings: Organize and facilitate various coordination/meetings for the Regional Director with both internal and external stakeholders across the region. Accurately document key outcomes and decisions, and ensure follow-up on action points, supporting the Regional Director in driving progress. 
  • Facilitating Programmatic Meetings: Support programmatic meetings by providing inputs for strategic discussions and contributing to the development of actionable plans. 
  • Synthesizing Inputs: Assist in consolidating and synthesizing feedback and inputs from various departments on various documents within the Regional Office and Country Offices to inform decision-making and strategy formulation. 
  • Developing Presentations and Talking Points: Work closely with the Regional Director to prepare presentations, speeches, idea pitches and talking points for various events and meetings. This will include conducting research, curating content, and collaborating with the External Relations (ER) team for finalization. 
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any additional tasks or assignments as directed by the Regional Director to ensure smooth operational support and alignment with regional goals. 

Deliverables

The consultant is expected to deliver the following outputs:

  • High-quality, finalized idea/concept notes for various strategic opportunities.
  • Clear, concise and timely documentation of meeting outcomes, action points, and follow-up reports.
  • Presentations and/or talking points/idea pitches for key events and meetings.
  • Regular contributions for effective coordination, planning sessions and programmatic meetings.
  • Consolidated inputs from Regional and Country Offices for use in decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience Required 

  • Advanced degree in International Development, Communications, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in the development sector, with a focus on coordination, planning, stakeholder engagement, and programmatic support.
  • Experience of working in the Asia region.
  • Strong experience in drafting idea/concept notes, reports, and presentations.
  • Proven ability to facilitate high level meetings and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Familiarity with regional and global development issues, especially in the areas related to Nutrition. 

Reporting and Coordination 

The consultant will report directly to the Regional Director. Close coordination with the relevant departments within the Regional Office will be required to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables. 

Duration of Contract 

The consultancy is expected to commence as soon as possible and will continue until March 31, 2025, subject to extension based on performance and organizational needs.

Remuneration: The consolidated fee for this position could be INR 2.0 to 2.50 Lacs per month.
