Job Overview
The Programme Officer – State Climate Action (Maharashtra) will work closely with the Maharashtra State Climate Action team. Responsibilities include managing Asar's issue-based networks, collaborating with internal and external partners, and conducting research to support program objectives. Occasional travel within Maharashtra, including remote areas, may be required.
Location:
- Remote (Preference for candidates based in Mumbai or Pune)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of climate and related issues in Maharashtra.
- Build, nurture, and maintain partnerships on state climate work.
- Provide strategic and operational support to partner programs, aligned with Asar's vision.
- Collaborate with issue-based and functional teams for cross-learning and alignment.
- Monitor socio-political and policy developments relevant to Asar’s work.
- Engage with government bodies, academic institutions, PRIs, and ULBs on climate issues.
- Support other tasks critical to advancing Asar’s objectives, as agreed with leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in climate change, development studies, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Marathi (working knowledge).
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in the development sector, journalism, CSR, or similar roles in Maharashtra.
- Experience in climate, environment, or sustainability sectors preferred but not mandatory.

- Competitive, based on industry standards and candidate experience.
