At the Philanthropy, we make multi-year grants to not-for-profit organisations that work with the most vulnerable in our society. Through such support, people who are deeply disadvantaged and marginalised are offered immediate care, access to essential services, and the possibility of a dignified future.
We make grants to civil society organisations that work on a range of thematic areas such as, urban homeless, persons with disability, women survivors of violence, adolescent girls at risk, street children, elderly poor, manual scavengers, waste pickers, migrant workers, gender and sexual minorities, rural livelihoods, tribal and water deficient communities
About the role
Under the Rural Livelihoods theme, we support organizations which work intensively on livelihood of small & marginal farmers, traditional artisans, and other vulnerable rural communities with limited resources to improve their livelihood and wellbeing, across India.
The organisations we would like to support must be focused on the rural livelihoods and include a wide range of interventions such farm, off-farm, non-farm, forest based through improving their natural resources, knowledge enhancement and linkages with institutions.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and effective knowledge management within the team to ensure smooth program delivery.
- Manage the disbursal of high-impact grants within the organisation in an individual capacity.
- Supplement the research and development of frameworks, models, and theories around the operating area.
- Initiate relationships with civil society organisations in order to further the organisation’s understanding of an area.
- Ensure compliance with specific grant proposals to ensure that it meets the organisation’s guidelines and requirements, and are a well drafted request, complete in all aspects.
What we are looking for
- Candidates who have good understanding of rural livelihood issues and worked intensively on rural livelihoods (farm, off-farm and non-farm) with vulnerable rural communities.
- Managed large scale rural livelihood programmes.
- Managed the CSO working on rural livelihood (desirable).
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree desirable.
- Should have made significant and long-lasting contributions in his/her area of specialisation.
- High level of self-motivation, initiative, and creativity.
- Willingness to travel extensively for work.
- Substantial knowledge of organisational and project management.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, and solve problems independently or collaboratively if needed.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the sector.
