About the organization
HUMSAFAR is a Lucknow-based support center for women, youth, and queer persons in crisis to ensure a holistic response to discrimination and violence across the sexual spectrum based on gender, religion, caste, disability, sexuality, & class.
We look forward to receiving applications for the position of Program officer from
women with an interest, knowledge, and experience on the issue of gender-based
violence, gender justice, equity, and intersectionality.
Job Status: Full Time, Monday to Saturday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with survivors of gender-based violence. Counsel the survivors and caregivers to cope with mental health trauma.
2. Support survivors to get mental health support at the center.
3. Support survivors to access justice and follow up with government officials, police, etc., to ensure survivors get entitlements and other necessary benefits.
4. Work with women, youth, and queer persons in the communities of Lucknow on gender-based discrimination, violence, and mental health.
5. Collaborate and keep in touch with necessary stakeholders.
6. Travel for necessary support and program implementation.
7. Provide ongoing support and technical assistance to organizational initiatives; provide inputs and support for organizational development, among other activities, and uphold the organizational values, mission, and vision.
8. Conceptualize, develop content, coordinate, and conduct training/meetings/capacity buildings (offline and online).
9. Develop collaborative initiatives for advocacy, identifying ways to strengthen proposed initiatives and support their successful development.
10. Identify opportunities and develop proposals, and concept notes for funders.
Necessary skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of gender, mental health, gender-based discrimination and violence, and related women’s rights issues.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in Hindi and English for documentation & and communication with different stakeholders.
- Should be an ally to the queer community.
- Should be flexible with timing.
- Committed to grassroots work.
- Team player, Hardworking, self-motivated, good time management skills, good counseling skills implemented with empathy, sensitivity, a non-judgmental approach, and boundaries.
- Self-reflective and open to feedback.
- Ability to multitask and manage different individual, team, and organizational requirements.
Eligibility:
1. Academic: Post-graduation (preferably in related subjects such as psychology, gender studies, disability studies)
2. Work experience: Minimum two years of full-time work experience (preferably in
related fields or development sector)
