Background:

Wipro’s engagement with education and other social issues is deep. It is formed on the bedrock of long-term commitment. We believe Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have a critical role to play. Thus, Wipro Foundation works in close partnerships with people and organizations. We intervene on a spectrum of issues in education, ecology, health care, disaster response, and sustainability.

Since 2001, Wipro has been working on building capacities of CSOs engaged in school education. Our goal has been to work toward different aspects of reforms in school education. We have supported hundreds of educational projects and initiatives. We currently support a growing network of over 160+ education organizations across 27 states and UTs. This makes us one of the most diverse networks of Educational CSOs in the country.

In addition to this, one of our flagship programs, Wipro earthian, combines our interest in the areas of education and ecology. It has reached over 4,000+ colleges and 13,000+ schools since its inception.

Role description:

We are looking for a candidate with experience in Environment Education and/or Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) to join the core team of our Education Initiatives to further our engagement in developing a strong network of education CSOs across the country.

Responsibilities:

Outreach and due diligence

• Enhancing outreach and awareness about Wipro Foundation’s education programs, especially in non-urban and underserved regions

• Contributing to the selection process of new partner organizations and Fellows, and supporting applicants during the shortlisting phase Program management and capacity enhancement of partners

• Managing partnerships effectively and with sensitivity, through field visits and calls, etc.

• Understanding and analysing partners’ capacity enhancement needs

• Helping organizations become effective in their chosen domain of work, especially in the areas of environmental education or ECCE or FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy), by direct engagement, and in collaboration with Resource Organizations

• Help organize events such as our Annual Partners’ Forum, thematic meets, workshops, and training programs, etc.

Knowledge management and documentation

• Effectively documenting information, outcomes and learning pertaining to the programs, including field visits, proceedings of meets and conferences, videos and reports, etc.

• Contributing to the design, development and implementation of a knowledge management framework

Liaising with others

• Facilitate strategic tie-ups and partnerships with other organizations and agencies to further the programs’ agenda

• Identify and liaise with internal and external stakeholders and vendors, as needed

Other skills/ experiences

• Excellent English language skills; ability to read and converse in Hindi and/or other Indian languages would be preferred

• Experience of designing, developing and managing online courses and/or learning communities would be an added advantage

• Good understanding of global and local environmental issues, and responses to the same by various state and non-state actors

Candidate profile:

The individual should have a keen interest in school education and in related social and developmental issues. They will be expected to play a proactive and critical role in fulfilling the responsibilities listed above, toward further strengthening the education partners’ network.

Flexibility in approach, ability to handle ambiguity, taking on new responsibilities, and adopting a collaborative approach to work are traits that will help in the role and in achieving long-term objectives.

Additionally, the individual should have good networking and communication skills. They must also be able to articulate the program goals and objectives to internal and external stakeholders.

Educational qualification(s): The individual should have a graduate or post-graduate degree in Education/Development or allied areas. However, individuals with degrees in other disciplines may also apply, if they have the relevant experience.

Work experience: Overall experience of 10-15 years, with 5+ years in Education or Sustainability.

Previous experience of working as an environment-science or ECCE educator, and/or in a corporate setup/ CSR team/ philanthropic foundation, is preferred.

Role type: Full-time with regular travel to locations within India.
