We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Director to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic direction of our programs.
Role Overview
As the Program Director, you will report directly to the Head of Programs and be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all program-related activities. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing complex programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and driving operational excellence. You will lead the implementation and expansion of community programs, both domestically and internationally, ensuring their success and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Program Delivery and Quality Assurance:
- Strategic Development: Design and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize program efficiency and effectiveness, with a focus on change management.
- Program Execution: Lead the development and execution of all program aspects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and government policies.
- Supervision: Oversee program implementation, supporting Field Teams to ensure seamless operations and adherence to donor requirements.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, ensuring compliance with donor expectations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with partners to maintain strategic coherence and engage with beneficiaries through regular field visits.
- Operational Excellence: Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations and ensure consistency across all activities.
Financial Management
- Budgeting: Lead financial management, including forecasting, budgeting, and cost management, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Financial Reporting: Finalize and submit high-quality financial reports, supporting the finance team with audits and evaluations.
- Resource Management: Ensure robust systems are in place for managing assets, equipment, and property, while maintaining compliance with donor guidelines.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- M&E Tools: Lead the development and application of monitoring and evaluation tools to deliver evidence-based and results-driven programming.
- Integration: Foster an integrated approach across thematic areas (children, education, youth, women, and community development) to enhance program design and delivery.
- Documentation: Document and disseminate project learnings and case studies, incorporating them into ongoing and future initiatives.
Program Development and Fundraising:
- Fundraising Collaboration: Work closely with the Strategic Partnerships Team to contribute to program development and fundraising efforts.
- Proposal Development: Drive the development of concept notes and proposals, ensuring alignment with beneficiary needs and securing continuous funding.
- Donor Relations: Play an active role in donor relations, contributing to the creation of a robust fundraising strategy.
Performance Management and Capacity Building:
- Team Leadership: Ensure the project is adequately staffed, focusing on recruitment, management, and motivation of team members.
- Capacity Building: Develop and execute a comprehensive capacity-building and training plan for all team members, including government officials.
- Staff Development: Foster a positive and inclusive working environment, promoting staff development through regular feedback and performance evaluations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Technology Integration: Identify and implement technological solutions to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
- Research Contribution: Engage in ongoing research initiatives, with a focus on child protection and education.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to organizational policies, including child safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities.
- Networking: Engage with other NGOs, Civil Society Organizations, and related entities to enhance collaboration and program effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Master’s degree in development studies, social work, business administration, social sciences, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years managing development programs, with expertise in project cycle management, proposal writing, and M&E.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of FCRA and CSR regulations in India, with proven experience managing large-scale field programs in complex environments.
- Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and reporting, with familiarity with major institutional donors.
- Thematic Expertise: Extensive understanding of child-centric development processes and policies, including strategies to combat child labor, trafficking, and exploitation.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead multicultural teams, with excellent communication skills in English and Hindi.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and new media platforms.
