About the organization
The Northeast Centre for Equity Action on Integrated Development (NEAID) is a grassroots, not-for-profit, and apolitical organization l by individuals from the region. NEAID promotes sustainable development initiatives in the tribal and rural areas of Northeastern India, with a focus on quality education, health, and its determinants. NEAID’s interventions are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are designed to complement the existing public systems. NEAID envisions creating and living in an equitable and prosperous society through integrated development. This vision will become a reality through its mission to create an inclusive society in Northeast India by improving access to healthcare and education through partnerships, advocacy, and integrated development eorts. Since launching its programmatic interventions in 2017, NEAID has collaborated with national and international entities, corporate donors, and the government to enhance the quality of education, provide safe drinking water, ensure good health, and respond to disasters in marginalized and rural communities in Northeast India.
Position Summary
The Program Associate (Community Engagement) will play a key role in advancing our mission of strengthening communities of rural Assam and to create sustainable impact. With extensive experience of community engagement and stakeholder management in the nonprofit sector, the successful candidate will be adept at community mobilisation and leveraging institutions, management of releva and important stakeholders at various levels, organising and conducting research, surveys and training events with the community. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with a strong experience of working with communities of Assam at the grassroots and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement and Mobilization
● Build and strengthen relationships with rural communities across Assam to foster trust and collaboration.
● Activate and strengthen the support from Mother’s group, SMCs, School Alumni, Community volunteers towards Program effectiveness.
● Act as a liaison between the organization and community stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding and partnership.
Stakeholder Management
● Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at various levels, including government bodies, local leaders, NGOs, and other relevant organizations.
● Represent the organization in community meetings, workshops, and other engagement forums.
● Provide timely updates and reports to stakeholders on program activities, progress, and outcomes.
Program Implementation and Coordination
● Support the design, planning, and execution of community development initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
● Organize and facilitate training events, workshops, and capacity-building sessions for community members.
● Ensure timely delivery of program activities while adhering to timelines.
Monitoring and Reporting
● Monitor the progress and eectiveness of community engagement activities and provide regular feedback to program leads.
● Identify challenges and propose solutions to enhance program eciency and impact.
● Prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders, including success stories and lessons learned.
Additional Responsibilities
● Support the NEAID team with ad-hoc requests and day-to-day functions.
● Work closely with the Founders.
Key Qualifications
Essentials:
● Master’s degree in Social work, Communications, development or a related fiel
● Minimum 3 years of experience in community mobilisation in rural settings or a related role within the nonprofit secto
● Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and non verbal proficiency in Assamese. Strong at storytelling in Assam
● Deep commitment to community immersion, willing to travel and stay in diverse communities to engage communities in the fiel
● Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to identify and mobilise community, institutions and other stakeholders.
● Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
● Familiarity with the rural context of Assam, especially in the education sector.
Salary: 40000-45000/- per month
