Role Overview

The Operations Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of two of ISL’s projects- the AI for Social Impact Project and the Critical Literacy Project. This role requires a dynamic individual passionate about technology and social impact, capable of managing diverse stakeholders, and ensuring that the program achieves its goals of meaningful community-driven change. The Operations Manager will work under the guidance of the Senior
Program Manager.

AI for Social Impact Project (AI for SI)

AI for Social Impact leverages generative AI to empower NGOs and government agencies in India to implement data-driven interventions, bridging the gap between technological advancements and underserved urban communities. The program's core mission is to build a comprehensive community map of urban slum communities, containing data on demographics, challenges, attitudes, and mindsets.


Critical Literacy Project (CLP)

CLP creates professional development spaces for NGO and government school cluster teachers to build communities of practice where they can engage in critical pedagogy. The goal of the project is to build long-term and sustainable teacher-learning solutions for Critical Literacy in classrooms that include upskilling, acquiring knowledge, and continuous reflection.

Key Responsibilities

1) Program Planning and Execution:
○ Develop detailed project plans to guide the implementation of community
mapping initiatives and school clusters.
○ Oversee the design and execution of surveys, interviews, and data collection
efforts in collaboration with student volunteers and core teams.
○ Facilitate live sessions for CLP participants.

2) Team Leadership:
○ Recruit, train, and manage a team of college student volunteers and core team
members for AI for SI vertical.
○ Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, ensuring all members are
aligned with the program’s goals for both projects.

3) Stakeholder Engagement:
○ Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, NGOs, and government agencies.
○ Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners, ensuring effective
communication and alignment.
○ Facilitate information sessions and pitches to all external stakeholders for CLP.

4) Data Management and Analysis:
○ Oversee the collection, organization, and analysis of community data using AI
tools.
○ Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy of data collected.

5) Monitoring and Evaluation:
○ Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of program
initiatives.
○ Regularly assess program progress, providing detailed reports to leadership and
partners.

6) Strategic Development:
○ Identify opportunities for scaling the program’s impact and integrating innovative AI solutions.
○ Stay informed on emerging trends in AI and social impact, incorporating best
practices into the program.
○ Identify scaling opportunities for CLP through government school systems and
NGOs across the country.

Qualifications and Skills


● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Data Science, Public Policy, or related fields.
● Proven experience managing programs in social impact, NGO partnerships, or
community development.
● Strong understanding of AI and its applications in social development (preferred but not mandatory).
● Excellent project management and organizational skills.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse
stakeholders.
● Analytical mindset with experience in data collection, management, and reporting.
● Proficiency in project management tools and AI-based platforms is a plus.
