Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Social Studies to join our team in designing and developing K-12 curriculum. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of educational standards, instructional design, and best practices in teaching Social Studies to K-12 students. This role requires a creative and analytical individual who can collaborate effectively with educators, instructional designers, and other stakeholders to create high-quality educational materials that meet the diverse needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Design, develop, and revise K-12 Social Studies curriculum materials, including lesson plans, assessments, instructional guides, and multimedia resources, ensuring alignment with state and national standards.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Provide expertise in Social Studies, including history, geography, civics, and economics, to inform curriculum design and instructional strategies.
  • Standards Alignment: Ensure curriculum content is aligned with Common Core State Standards, C3 Framework for Social Studies State Standards, and other relevant educational standards.
  • Instructional Design: Collaborate with instructional designers to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences that incorporate best practices in pedagogy and technology integration.
  • Content Review: Review and evaluate existing curriculum materials for quality, accuracy, and effectiveness, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Professional Development: Provide training and support to educators on the implementation of Social Studies curriculum materials and effective instructional practices.
  • Research and Trends: Stay current with educational research, trends, and best practices in Social Studies education to inform curriculum development and instructional methods.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including educators, instructional designers, editors, and multimedia specialists, to ensure cohesive and comprehensive curriculum development.
  • Feedback Integration: Gather and incorporate feedback from educators, students, and other stakeholders to continuously improve Social Studies curriculum content.

Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree in education (US Equivalent), Social Studies, History, or a related field. A doctoral degree is a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in K-12 US education, with a strong background in Social Studies curriculum design and development. Classroom teaching experience in Social Studies is highly preferred.

Expertise: Deep knowledge of Social Studies standards and curriculum frameworks. Expertise in history, geography, civics, and economics is essential.
