Trickle Up helps people in extreme poverty and vulnerability advance their economic and social well-being. Since its founding in 1979, Trickle Up has helped 335,000 women gain the skills and confidence to achieve greater economic self-sufficiency. We work with women and vulnerable populations to start sustainable livelihoods and join self-help groups that give them a safe place to save money, access credit, gain hope and confidence, and become decision-makers in their households and communities. Trickle Up has offices in Kolkata, Guatemala, Burkina Faso, and New York City.
Position Overview
The position’s primary responsibility is to generate new business opportunities including bringing current projects to scale through additional funding. Potential partners include institutional donors such as governments, large international and domestic NGO, CSR, and corporate and private foundations. In addition, s/he will be responsible for identifying partners. Partners may include research organizations, implementing partners, collaborating partners, Governments etc. The fundamental goal of cultivating strong partnerships is to ensure that Trickle Up has the reach, technical capacity, grass roots presence, and voice, to reach India’s most vulnerable. These include PVTG, people with disabilities, women and indigenous groups, among others. As part of developing strong partnerships, the incumbent must be able to navigate social, economic and political landscapes, including working with state and national governments.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify potential partners that support Trickle Up’s mission and goals
- Institutional donors
- CSR
- Proposal development (and concept notes)
- Support in the development of program proposals and concept notes that are reflective of TU’s strategy and mission.
- Coordinate with program team to articulate program goals, priorities and value added that Trickle Up provides.
- Facilitation to HQ for fund raising initiatives and actively taking part of HQ initiatives of fund raising.
- Identify potential partners (research, implementing, etc)
- Proactively identify potential partners, including, local and state governments, INGOs, NGOs, CSR actors and local implementing partners
- Support the Asia Regional Director and the Director of Business Development to effectively represent Trickle Up’s work, aspirations, and capabilities to an external audience.
- Develop and facilitate the implementation of a partnership strategy. This includes a partnership framework and a stakeholder mapping and influencing plan for India with key roles and responsibilities as well as discrete actions identified including participation in relevant forum and venues.
- Actively represent TU in the dissemination of key learnings, results, and policy implications, positioning TU as a thought leader in the social and economic inclusion field.
- Ensure learning from our scaling efforts is channelled to senior leadership and incorporated into future action planning and approaches.
- Relationship Management: Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing partners through regular communication, meetings, and collaboration.
- Agreement Negotiation: Negotiate partnership agreements, MOUs, and contracts to ensure mutual benefit and alignment with organizational goa
Internal Collaboration:
- Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with other departments, including Programs, Communications, and Development, to ensure integrated and cohesive partnership efforts.
- Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices within the organization regarding partnership development and management.

Skills, Experience & Knowledge
- Demonstrate experience writing proposals, with clear knowledge of logframes, results frameworks and budget templates
- Post Graduate Degree or Degree with equivalent work experience from a recognized University/college in the social and economic inclusion sector or any other related area that can bring added value to the job.
- Relevant experience of 7 - 10 years for Post graduate holders, or 10 years + for degree holders, the social sector
- Extensive experience in partner/relationship development and management at senior level
- Excellent communicator with strong written and reporting skills, and an excellent ability to influence verbally to persuade with diplomacy and tact.
- Excellent verbal and written English skills.
- Adaptable and able to work under pressure in a demanding and fast-moving environment.
- Initiative and motivation to work independently and develop solutions to problems. Highly flexible in style with the ability to produce creative and pragmatic solutions to complex problems.
Others:
- Deep commitment to Trickle Up’s core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
- Fluency in English and Hindi with excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Prior experience working in teams in a leadership role.
- Experience with training highly desirable.
- Ability to travel frequently within the country (up to 50% of the time).
- Ability to prioritize, organize and carry out multiple tasks efficiently under pressure and with little supervision; ability to accept supervision.
