Position Summary
Reporting to: Director and Co-Founder
Location: Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh
Salary: ₹2,40,000 to ₹3,00,000 per year, based on experience
The Development, Communication, & Partnership Lead for the Muheem Leader Fellowship will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s fundraising, partnership-building, and strategic communication efforts. This role is essential for amplifying Muheem’s mission of empowering marginalized communities in rural Uttar Pradesh through education and leadership development.
The position involves crafting compelling narratives, designing impactful communication strategies, and engaging diverse stakeholders, including donors, foundations, and community partners. We seek a dynamic, creative, and proactive individual who can blend strategic thinking with hands-on implementation to build strong relationships, secure resources, and elevate Muheem’s impact and visibility in the social sector.
Responsibilities
Donor Stewardship and Fundraising:
• Serve as the primary relationship manager for long-term and high-potential donors (CSR, foundations, and individuals), cultivating meaningful partnerships.
• Deepen existing partnerships by curating tailored engagement, donor delight, and branding opportunities that resonate with donors’ interests.
• Develop and execute a renewal strategy grounded in an authentic understanding of the organization’s needs, challenges, and impact to build catalytic partnerships.
• Generate clear and compelling written communications for key audiences, including donor proposals, concept notes, reports, presentations, and other materials to inspire prospective donors.
• Pursue new funding opportunities through corporations, foundations, and alternative sources, building a comprehensive and adaptive strategy for future growth.
Strategic Communications and Brand Building:
• Develop and implement strategic communication plans that highlight Muheem’s impact, engaging diverse audiences across digital platforms, social media, and traditional media channels.
• Create and manage content that tells the story of Muheem’s work, spotlighting the successes of our fellows, students, and communities to inspire support and foster a positive public image.
• Work closely with the leadership team to design and execute targeted campaigns and initiatives that raise visibility and drive engagement with stakeholders.
• Ensure consistent brand representation across all external communications, maintaining quality control in donor-related systems and processes, including impact reporting, stewardship, and compliance.
Operational Excellence and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate data on donors, driving renewal/upgrade projections and data-driven insights.
• Ensure adherence to governance structures and policies, including MOU commitments, Child Protection Policy, and field-trip guidelines, educating the team and donors on compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with finance teams for budgeting and ensure reporting commitments are met, providing operational support for audits, finance, knowledge management, and due diligence.
• Work with cross-functional teams to build and sustain operational excellence, ensuring smooth integration of fundraising and communications strategies.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Expectations
• Educational Background: Graduate/Postgraduate in relevant field (Mass Communication and Journalism preferred)
• Work Experience: 3+ years of relevant work experience
• Language Proficiency: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Hindi and English, with demonstrated excellence in written communication through proposals or grant writing.
• Skills:
a) Proficiency in handling social media platforms and websites, including content development and resource material creation.
b) Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey messages clearly and persuasively.
c) Proficiency in content and visual design
Preferred Qualifications, Experience, and Expectations
• Sector Experience: Previous experience working in the development or education sector.
• Fundraising Experience: Exposure to corporates, foundations, or high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), with a preference for those with proven fundraising experience.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Experience working with CXOs and senior management stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial Experience: Experience in managing or leading entrepreneurial projects.
• Communication Expertise: Demonstrated experience in effective communication, including handling social media platforms, website content development, and creating resource materials.
