SAMS is helping the Climate Group (CG), recruit the Head of Governments and Policy, South Asia (HGP-SA), based in New Delhi.
CG is an international non-profit organisation, founded in 2004, with offices in London, Amsterdam, Beijing, New Delhi, and New York. CG is working to ensure a world of Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2050, with greater prosperity for all.
About the Role
CG is looking for a passionate climate policy professional, based at their India Office in New Delhi, with an aptitude for building robust and durable business and/or mission-driven relationships. The HGP-SA must have the capacity to lead teams in delivering sustainable performance and ensure that the Governments and Policy (G&P) team, successfully delivers on its ambitious programme and strategies, goals and targets.
This is a high-impact, leadership position providing exciting opportunities to formulate new initiatives and lead and design the G&P program portfolio in alignment with the organisation’s new three-year strategy for 2024-27. The role involves extensive business development, fundraising, and providing thought leadership in key areas within CG's remit.
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED) India, the HGP-SA shall manage the G&P team in the India Office, presently comprising three staff members. S/he shall work closely with government bodies at different levels and must have prior experience of working on climate policy, clean energy programmes, public policy or related issues in India/ South Asia, as well as a strong understanding of current international and national climate diplomacy.
Qualifications
Applicants must have suitable qualifications in Environmental Science, Energy Policy, Engineering, Economics, Public Policy, Management, or related areas, with a minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience.
Gross compensation budgeted for the position ranges from INR 26 to 33 lacs per annum, based on experience. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history. Rapid growth in compensation may be expected in the case of a high-performer who can successfully steer and grow the G&P portfolio, at this formative stage.
