JSW Foundation

Job Summary:

The school education system in India faces several significant challenges, despite various efforts to improve it. While enrollments have improved in urban areas, rural areas still face these issues. Quality of education remains a critical bottleneck and the lack of it manifests later on in the vocational and tertiary education levels, leading to disenchantment and lack of job placement, quality of life and overall outlook towards the country, society and households. Gender disparity and lack of inclusivity continue to be a gap in our education systems along with the lack of teachers' capacity and attitudes. Hence any piecemeal approach towards only infrastructure or teacher capacity building or only EdTech tools as pedagogical solutions will not suffice.

The Head Educationalist at JSW Foundation should have a holistic and transformative approach and should give strategic inputs. The Head Educationalist would be primarily responsible for overseeing the articulation of a unique Theory of Change through which, impactful work in school education can be achieved. This role is pivotal in shaping the educational landscape, prioritizing the most neglected work areas, particularly prioritizing early childhood and secondary education.
