About EDA
The Economic Growth Advisory team is part of KPMG Government & Public Sector practice. Bringing in fresh investments is the key to India’s sustainable and inclusive growth. While most attention is focused on the central government, India’s state governments are also vying for investments to ensure economic development in their states. KPMG in India has been at the helm driving collaborations with multiple state governments by providing strategic guidance to facilitate and accelerate investments.
We work at the intersection of government and private sector for collaboration with various governments to explore avenues for job creation and help create an enabling business environment. We follow a transformational approach towards job creation by leveraging strategic interventions across domains for facilitating investments, promoting trade and, encouraging entrepreneurship, thereby developing a conducive ecosystem for large industries, SMEs and startups to thrive.
As a part of EDA, we support government clients on the engagement delivery across the sectors within Ministries / Departments and States. EDA team is seeking an experienced professional with exceptional interpersonal and technical skills that may include data analysis and understanding of economics.The candidate should be able to drive and support the agenda of Economic Development Advisory practice of the firm both in India and the select regions.
Job Description
Role involves understanding complex technological issues, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring that technology policies promote innovation, security, privacy, and public interest.
Education
Advanced degree in Electronics and Communications, or a related field.
Experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in technology policy/advocacy, or a related field.
• Should have worked on technology policy, including areas such as data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.
• Extensive experience in analyzing and developing policies related to data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.
• Proven track record of policy analysis and development, particularly in areas involving advanced technologies and digital infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience in engaging with government agencies, think tanks, and industry stakeholders.
• Practical experience in assessing the societal impacts of emerging technological trends and crafting policy recommendations accordingly.
• Experience in advocating for technology-related policies and effectively persuading decision-makers and shaping public opinion.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical and policy issues to diverse audiences, including policymakers, industry leaders, and the public.
Key Responsibilities
• Policy Analysis and Development: Conduct in-depth analysis of existing and proposed technology policies, regulations, and legislation. Develop comprehensive policy recommendations.
• Research: Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends, assessing their potential societal impacts.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with industry leaders, government officials, and advocacy groups to build consensus on technology policy issues.
• Advocacy: Advocate for policies that promote technological innovation while ensuring ethical standards and public safety. Persuade decision-makers and shape public opinion.
• Communication: Communicate complex policy issues to a variety of audiences, including policymakers, the public, and media. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Policy Implementation: Work with organizations to implement technology policies effectively. Track the implementation and impact of these policies and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Project Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of key technological concepts and trends, such as cybersecurity, data privacy, AI, and digital infrastructure.
