About Role:
The Executive Director will report directly to Sangama's Governing Board and play a pivotal role in leading and guiding the organization towards its mission and goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Work together with the Leadership team, Board and Advisors in furtherance of/in support of the organisations vision and long term goals Develop strategic priorities for the organisation based on its vision and goals and create the roadmap for achieving them Build, implement and review annual operating plans for the organisation correlating to operating budgets in consultation with staff
- Create and sustain programmes that support and implement projects Create spaces and opportunities to support the field including active outreach
- Lead resource mobilisation, financial management and ensure financial sustainability
- Oversee organisational Monitoring, Evaluation and Learnings (MEaL) processes and systems
- Motivate, inspire and provide intellectual and creative support for staff to attain goals
- Ensure welfare of staff members, redressal of grievances and resolution of conflicts
- Oversee systems, processes and various statutory as well as best practices compliances of the organisation
- Build strategic relationships, partnerships and alliances with like-spirited and diverse people, progressive movements, donors, networks, collectives and organisations
- Primary signatory for all organisation statutory and financial documents, including, but not limited to - contracts, agreements and reports.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will be an individual with the ability to provide strong, passionate, empathetic, and visionary leadership needed for the organisation which works with people from marginalised communities. They will need to come with experience in developing and managing a diverse and talented team, setting strategy, managing programmatic and financial integrity, and partnerships with multiple and varied stakeholders. We are looking for someone who has the stamina for challenges, with the courage and patience required to push boundaries and set new paths.
Eligibility Criteria - Experience, Skills, Qualities:
- Minimum 10 years of proven leadership experience in the non-government sector, with a strong commitment to social justice and the rights of marginalised communities with 7 of those years in leadership roles.
- Experience of working with marginalsied communities in particular gender and sexual minorities, sex workers, people living with HIV and urban poor
- A deep understanding of the issues affecting gender sexual minorities, sex workers, people living with HIV and urban poor
- Ability to build and work in equitable and diverse environments
- Excellent understanding and grasp over financial planning and management, including resource mobilisation
- Strategic fundraising experience that includes cultivating individual and institutional donor relationships
- Excellent writing, speaking and public communication abilities in English and Kannada
- Excellent networking skills and ability to represent the organisation at different forums
- Empathetic, fair, adaptable, a team player, someone who fosters leadership
- Must be willing to travel
Remuneration:
The remuneration will be in the range of Rs. 11-14 lakh per annum, depending on experience and skill
