About the position

The Director – People Success, is among the most critical leadership roles at Jan Sahas. The Director will be responsible for the successful transition of the current Human Resources department at Jan Sahas into a People Success vertical that will design and implement strategies to ensure Jan Sahas is able to recruit the best talent for current requirements and develop a pipeline of future leaders from the existing staff – office and field based. The Director will also play an important role in sponsoring and engaging on Organization Development projects that directly or indirectly impact the employee experience at Jan Sahas including but not limited to leadership development programs, diversity and inclusion to name a few.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage teams to ensure HRIMS is effective: to maintain and streamline the current HR management system including payroll, compliance and policies or any other operational HR essentials.
  2. Build a strong 3-year people success strategy for Jan Sahas and drive execution of the same to improve the employee experience this will include talent onboarding, job clarity, talent development and exits.
  3. Build a strong recruitment strategy for Jan Sahas, including a strong employee value proposition and other linkages with talent pools to reduce the time taken to fill vacancies at Jan Sahas.
  4. Engage closely with the Organization Development team on core shared priorities for talent at Jan Sahas.
  5. Drive an effective reward and recognition strategy that reinforces the culture and behaviors.
  6. Manage end to end relationships with HR vendors to ensure compliance with company policies and practices including on-boarding new vendors, renewing contracts, meeting all information technology and compliance requirements, as well as provide oversight over service levels and regulatory requirements.
  7. Developing a strong vision and strategy for talent at Jan Sahas by identification of potential projects and engaging with leadership to execute the same.
  8. Provide thought partnership to senior management on key success factors such as designing of team structures, aligning of talent requirement, augmenting of skills, and planning for team growth.
  9. Contributing to the broader strategy of the organization (e.g., working with other directors to enable them to have stronger people and process capacities).
  10. Supporting external engagements (e.g., with donors and partners).
  11. Work with local senior management to embed a culture that promotes engagement, ethical conduct, business/sales practices, and diversity and inclusion.

Experience:

  1. MBA or Master’s degree in an HR discipline preferred.
  2. Minimum 10 years professional experience in HR (at least 5 years as a HRBP/ Generalist) , with >4 years in a senior leadership role.
  3. Led or deputized under the HR leadership of a large organization, preferably in the social sector.
  4. Experience in setting up HR systems and processes for a large organization.
  5. Experience in a large field operation is a plus.
  6. Experience and track record of leading teams toward success.
  7. Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws.
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills in English, Hindi & other local languages strongly preferred.
