Purpose of Job: The Community Engagement Associate will play a crucial role in advancing OLA Foundation's livelihood programs centered around women. The ideal candidate should be fluent in Kannada and English, comfortable in public engagement, and proactive in solving problems. This role involves fieldwork, translating and communicating program design into on-ground action, and managing relationships with stakeholders. The candidate should be a self-starter with a strong focus on women's empowerment, open to intercity travel, and capable of handling primary research, data collection, and reporting.
Key Stakeholders: Government Administrators, Community, OLA Foundation Team
Reporting Structure: Directly reports to Programme Manager - Livelihood. Positions that report to this role: Nurse coordinator.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Fluency: Proficiency in Kannada and English (both languages are a must)
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of on-ground experience and/or any fellowship experience considered a plus
- Professional Knowledge: Proficient in Google Workspace (must) and other relevant digital tools
- Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, initiative, and self-starting attitude; demonstrated leadership and people management skills; willingness and capability to engage in fieldwork and intercity travel; understanding of primary research, data collection, and reporting; experience or strong interest in gender elevation projects and livelihood programs centered around women; inclusivity (all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, female candidates are preferred); demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and tasks efficiently; excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail
Key Roles/Responsibilities:
- Public Engagement: Lead community engagement through workshops, focus group discussions, events, and field activities
- Fieldwork: Manage day-to-day field engagements through stakeholder interactions, research and data collection, and implementing program deliverables
- Problem Solving: Strategically resolve challenges encountered in the field keeping in mind the best interests of the community
- Translation and Communication: Convert program designs into actionable plans and communicate effectively with local communities
- Stakeholder Management: Map, build, and maintain relationships with key local governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to support program objectives
- Data Management: Oversee the collection and analysis of primary research data to inform program strategies
- Insights: Learn from the field and feed insights into the design of the program
- Travel: Be open to intercity travel as required for program implementation and stakeholder engagement
- Leadership: Provide direction and support to field teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
