Smile Foundation works for the welfare of underserved children and their families through intensive programmes focused on education, healthcare, skilling, women empowerment and Empowering Grassroots. Started in 2002 by a group of young corporate professionals, today Smile has evolved into a national level development organization impacting lives of over 1.5 million underserved children and their families with project presence in 27 states across India, 10 offices in strategic locations and over 650 employees, besides countless volunteers, well-wishers and supporters.
The organization also holds Special Consultative Status with United Nation’s Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC), accredited with global organizations like GuideStar, United Way, CAF America, Give2Asia and many more. Currently Smile Foundation has been implementing projects worth Rs. 80 Crore across India directly or with the help of grassroot organizations, primarily CSR funded projects of varied scale both in urban and rural areas including aspirational districts in thematic areas mentioned above. The wealth of knowledge emanated from the same is immense, however the same is grouped in systematic manner which can be used for pitching for large projects of long term in nature leading to data driven knowledge products which can be further used in creating large scale impact.


Summary of Role


The Centre Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the livelihood centre, ensuring the delivery of quality skill development training, managing centre staff, maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring that all project deliverables are met in a timely manner. The manager will also focus on improving student mobilization, placement assistance, and fostering a productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Centre Operations Management:
• Oversee day-to-day activities of the livelihood centre, ensuring it runs smoothly.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Manage centre assets, infrastructure, and logistics to ensure an optimal training environment.

Program Implementation:
• Ensure effective implementation of training programs in alignment with the curriculum.
• Coordinate with trainers to ensure quality training delivery and curriculum adherence.
• Develop and execute student mobilization strategies to meet enrolment targets.
• Monitor student attendance, engagement, and performance to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Staff Management:
• Supervise and manage a team of trainers, mobilizers, and administrative staff.
• Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and capacity-building sessions.
• Address staff grievances and ensure a positive working environment.

Stakeholder Engagement:
• Liaise with government agencies, NGOs, local communities, and other stakeholders to promote the centre.
• Build partnerships with potential employers to facilitate student placements and alumni engagement.
• Organize centre events, including opening/closing ceremonies, alumni meets, and job fairs.

Monitoring & Reporting:
• Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as enrolment numbers, drop-out rates, and placement rates.
• Ensure proper documentation and reporting to funders, management, and other
stakeholders.
• Conduct regular assessments to evaluate the impact and success of the program.

Financial & Budget Management:
• Manage centre budgets, including expense tracking and financial reporting.
• Ensure adherence to allocated budgets and maintain cost-effective operations.

Placement & Alumni Engagement:
• Work with the team to provide job placement support for enrolled students
• Facilitate career counseling and post-placement support to ensure long-term success for students.
• Maintain relationships with alumni and create opportunities for continuous learning and employment.

Community Outreach:
• Lead community mobilization efforts to encourage participation in livelihood programs.
• Work with local leaders and influencers to identify potential students for training
programs.
• Promote the livelihood centre’s services through outreach activities such as awareness camps and social media.

Qualification and Experience

(1) Bachelor’s degree in social work, Business Administration, Education, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
(2) At least 5-6 years of experience managing skill development or livelihood programs.
(3) Experience in mobilizing students, working with diverse communities, and
implementing training programs.
(4) Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
(5) Ability to manage budgets, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
(6) Proficiency in MS Office and data management tools.
(7) Experience in liaising with industry partners for placements.
(8) Familiarity with M&E (Monitoring and Evaluation) systems.
