Role Overview
The Associate Director will lead a multidisciplinary team across these critical areas, aligning objectives with TERI’s vision and long-term strategy. The role involves building strategic partnerships, managing talent, driving revenue, and ensuring impactful research outcomes. The Associate Director will foster collaboration across divisions and play a pivotal role in shaping the institution's direction within the development sector.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategic Vision:
- Develop and implement a shared vision and strategic direction for the centre with TERI’s goals.
- Drive a unified approach to addressing sustainability challenges through crossdivisional collaboration.
Partnerships and Networking:
- Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in agriculture, energy, and land resources sectors, including government bodies, NGOs, and international organizations.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance research capabilities, product development, and services.
Revenue Planning and Financial Oversight:
- Formulate revenue plans across agriculture, energy, and land resources with inputs from Area Conveners and Associate Directors.
- Ensure financial sustainability by meeting revenue targets, managing budgets, and monitoring both technical and financial activities.
Talent Management and Mentorship:
- Mentor junior researchers and manage talent across divisions, encouraging crossfunctional teamwork and professional development.
- Oversee manpower planning and collaborate with HR to recruit skilled personnel in agriculture, energy, and land resources.
Research Impact and Innovation:
- Guide the translation of divisional visions into high-impact, actionable research programs.
- Encourage team members to define Key Research Areas (KRAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for agriculture, energy, and land resources, with regular reviews of progress
Operational Coordination and Communication:
- Lead monthly divisional meetings and organize an annual retreat to foster collaboration, assess progress, and address operational challenges.
- Communicate expectations and decisions to all Division members promptly to ensure efficient operations.
Advisory and Resource Management:
- Oversee resource management, including coordinating with vendors and contractors to support research activities.
- Provide strategic input on project adjustments in agriculture, energy, and land resources to align with institutional goals.
Visibility and Dissemination:
- Actively promote the Division’s research and achievements in agriculture, energy, and land resources at key forums and platforms.
- Ensure research outcomes are effectively disseminated to stakeholders, showcasing the Division’s impact
Qualifications
PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Agriculture, Energy, Environmental Science, Land Resources Management, or related fields.
Experience
- At least 15 years of experience in related field with a proven track record of leading impactful projects.
- Demonstrated experience in working with international development organizations, government bodies, or research institutions across these sectors.
Salary
