The United Way movement is the largest Volunteer-led, not-for-profit Movement which spans the globe, with its organizations established in 41 countries and territories. Each organization is unique to its community, its country, and its culture. However, they all are united by the simple idea that people in a community can come together, pool their resources, and work collectively to deal with compelling community issues in a way that is more powerful than any one individual or entity alone. United Way of Delhi operates as an autonomous not for profit organisation, aligned with the global network of United Way Worldwide. The Themes of Engagement in impactful project initiatives across various domains, including quality education, healthcare, environment & disaster response, youth and financial stability.
Position Overview:
The position holder will provide overall leadership for the Financial Accounts function within the program, and the budgeting and Reporting function. He/she will be responsible for ensuring best-in[1]class financial controls and management for the program– including capacity building, implementing efficient & effective processes, improving and ensuring compliance with internal control systems. S/he will ensure that Donors / Partners / Government Financial requirements and procedures comply with the UWD’s policies, donor requirements as well and the Government laws and policies.
Assistant Manager Finance collaborates with other department, field staff, senior management, and partner organizations. This position will work closely with Senior Manager Finance in building robust financial systems and managing financial, operations and legal risks and wherever required support Head of Finance & Operation for some delegated financial matters. The position will collaborate and supervise up to 2 team members.
1. Day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, grants administration.
2. Financial reporting, accounting records, administration of controls and budgets
3. Risk-mitigation and compliance with the statutory obligations and grants management standards, and adherence to all statutory compliances which includes but not limited to taxation and FCRA
Role & Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
• Track income from various sources including follow-up with Fund Raising and the Program team for timely receipt of donor instalments.
• Responsible for routinely scrutinizing the Trials balance to check the correctness of expense booking as per expense code and project/donor codes.
• Providing audited financial statements (receipt & payment account) to donors as per grant for the closure of the grant
• To ensure all audit related matters including statutory, internal, donor and other special audit as and when they emerge.
• Partnership management starting from the onboarding of partners, capacity building of partners, timely disbursement of grants, ensuring monthly financial reporting from partners, donor-led audit of partners, and till the closure of partnership
• Prepare MOUs of NGO partners
• Responsible for treasury management, including payment of suppliers & vendors, monitoring petty cash, and production of accurate cash reporting and cash flow forecasting.
• Verify and Authorize Bank payments and Manage Bank Reconciliation
• Preparation of Donor financial reports, financial statements, estimates, summaries, monthly and periodic MIS and other financial analysis and management reports
• Work with Finance and Non-Finance staff in understanding finance-related issues.
• Review Fixed Asset Register on periodic basis
Compliance:
• Ensure statutory compliance across the organization.
• Compliance to laws & legislations for all financial transactions across India (including the income tax matters, TDS, MHA matters, PF and other regulatory matters as may arise).
Qualifications and Experience
• Master’s Degree with minimum of 7 years’ experience with at least 4 years’ experience in providing the whole range of financial services to an organisation and with at least 4 years in the NGO.
• Proficiency in Finance and Accounting related work within India with a sound understanding of Indian legal requirements including FCRA.
• Sound knowledge of all relevant laws and statutory legal requirements.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people, in an atmosphere of mutual respect,
• Proven knowledge of computerised systems especially Tally ERP and spreadsheets; high degree of computer literacy and word processing skills essential.
• Ability to prioritise well and definite commitment to meet deadlines.
Travel: Ability to travel as required.
