Assistant Manager Climate Action in our Watsan department.

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Climate Action Candidate who is passionate about addressing climate change through effective policy, advocacy, and leadership. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of climate science, proven experience in advocating and implementing and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to achieve meaningful climate action goals.

Responsibilities

Project Development

a. Conduct thorough assessments of potential project opportunities, including partner due diligence, carbon sequestration estimation, financial viability, and legal/regulatory analysis.

b. Develop comprehensive project plans, encompassing business strategies, implementation processes, and technical requirements.

c. Lead the formation of project structures, negotiate contracts, and conduct environmental and social impact assessments.

d. Prepare and submit project documentation for registration under international carbon standards (primarily VERRA and GS).

Project Implementation

  • Oversee project implementation, ensuring adherence to budgets and project timelines.
  • Manage monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) processes according to established standards.
  • Facilitate carbon credit issuance and transfer.
  • Prepare comprehensive monitoring reports.

Team Contribution:

a. Stay updated on industry trends and contribute to the development of expertise within the team.

b. Represent the organization in relevant industry forums and working groups

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Biodiversity, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Policy, Sustainability Management, and other relevant fields

Other Required Skills

  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites regularly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
