About the Organization
Swaniti Initiative aims to strengthen public service delivery by working with state and local governments across South Asia with a strong focus on India. Our interventions have included strengthening scheme implementation by identifying current gaps and limitations, providing research support to Hon’ble Members of Parliament about best practices in moving forward, and developing data-technology tools that can back decision-making processes. With flagship initiatives like Supporting Parliamentarians in Analysis and Research in Constituencies (SPARC) and Leadership and Engagement Associate in District (LEAD), Swaniti has supported constituency development and district development planning in various parts of the country. At present, along with working with 200+ Hon'ble Members of Parliamentarians for policy making, are working as advisors to state governments to ensure the delivery of schemes to the last mile. Major verticals of our work are climate and sustainability, social protection, and livelihood.
Job Summary:
The Analyst/Associate for Policy Engagements will support the Policy Team with Outreach to Hon’ble Members of Parliament (MPs), provide research, sectoral insights, and legislative support. The role will also focus on supporting the team with engaging MPs on policy issues through research,
convenings, and facilitating knowledge exchange on specific sectors.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Research & Legislative Support:
- Conduct research on policy issues, world affairs, and government schemes based on different sectoral issues for Hon’ble MPs
- Develop expert briefings, policy insights, and legislative support documents based on MPs’ specific requests
- Provide background research for parliamentary interventions, bills, and standing committee meetings
- Identify critical policy gaps and propose interventions for at constituency and national levels
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Constant outreach to Parliamentarians in India and abroad
- Engage with stakeholders including government bodies, think tanks, civil society, corporate CSR wings, and grassroots organizations
- Organize public events and workshops on different topics
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and knowledge products on relevant issues
- Document policy recommendations, administrative reports, and success stories for larger dissemination
- Comply to all the internal reporting requirements
- Actively contribute to communication initiatives
Requirements
Qualifications Required:
- Education: Postgraduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Development Studies or any related field
- Experience: 0-1 years of experience in policy research, public policy, or legislative support (internship experience considered)
Skills Required:
- Strong research and interpretation skills
- Ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, actionable insights for Hon’ble MPs and stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Understanding of the structure and functioning of Union and State governments
- Knowledge of parliamentary processes, including committee reports, legislative procedures, and budgets
