Grameen Foundation for Social Impact is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Agronomist, who will be responsible for providing specialized knowledge and support in agriculture to help Agri Entrepreneurs (AE) and Small Holder Farmers (SHF) to optimize their crop production, farming practices and in turn increase their income
Required Education, Experience & Skills
- BSC Agri or MSC Agri or MBA with specialization preferable in Agri business management from a reputed university.
- Should have knowledge about the latest technology of SMART agriculture practices including organic and natural farming. With good understanding of various crops and their varieties, suitable for the project area and should be able to develop crops calendar
- 7-10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Must be well-versed in Telugu.
Essential Job Functions:
- To advise AEs and SHFs on suitable crop cultivation choices based on factors such as climate, soil type, water availability, market demand, and profitability. Support in monitoring and improving the soil health through soil testing, soil conservation, and practices that enhance soil fertility and structure.
- To provide guidance on best practices for crop cultivation, soil preparation, irrigation and planting techniques, pest, and disease management, etc., and ensure development of Resilience Plans.
- To help AEs and SHFs adopt Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) including climate-resilient and women-friendly agricultural practices/ technologies. To promote sustainable and environment-friendly farming practices, such as organic farming, conservation agriculture, within AEs and SHFs.
- To advise and support AEs in obtaining various licenses required for their enterprise such as input, pesticide, fertilizer, GST license; and also, in establishing the input centers through sign boards, painting, etc.
- To enable the SHFs access Sustainability and Carbon Emission related certifications and also financial incentives / Carbon payments.
- To support capacity building expert in designing modules on GAP, crop advisory, etc. and impart training to enhance the agronomic knowledge and skills of AEs and in turn the SHFs.
- To support the program team in collaboration with various agricultural universities, research institutions, management institutes for the project sustainability. To collect and analyze agronomic data, including crop yields, input usage, and farm performance indicators, to assess the impact of interventions and identify areas for improvement.
