Overview of the Role
The Consultant will provide high-level scientific and technical support to NACO and CDC–SHARE INDIA for the roll-out of HIV Drug Resistance (DR) testing under NACP. The assignment will focus on sequencing workflows, quality assurance, data interpretation, laboratory strengthening, and capacity building related to HIV DR testing.
Job Description
• Provide expert technical guidance for roll-out of HIV Drug Resistance testing under NACP
• Support implementation, optimization, and validation of HIV-1 sequencing workflows (NGS and Sanger platforms)
• Guide use and interpretation of genotype-based ART drug resistance tools
• Recommend suitable sequencing platforms, bioinformatics pipelines, and databases
• Support development and review of SOPs, guidelines, and other technical documents for HIV DR testing
• Support implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) in HIV DR laboratories
• Participate in and provide inputs during technical consultations, review meetings, and trainings
• Provide on-site and off-site technical support as required
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Education
M.D. / Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related discipline
Experience
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in molecular microbiology, virology, or genome sequencing • Demonstrated expertise in NGS and Sanger sequencing technologies • Strong experience in genomic data management and analysis
