Solidarity and Action Against The HIV Infection in India (SAATHII) is a public health non-profit focused on HIV, sexual health, reproductive health and human rights issues. With eight offices in seven states of India, SAATHII works to advance its vision of strengthening and scaling up HIV prevention, care, support, treatment and associated services in India. Headquartered in Chennai, SAATHII has offices in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal; and implements programs in ten states of India. SAATHII is staffed by over 90 professionals in public health, social work, research, nutrition, program communication, and sexually transmitted infections.


Overview of the Role


SAATHII is seeking the services of a senior expert with proven experience in public health and managing large national programs. The candidate should be deeply committed to assisting Ihe country in meeting its national goal of TB elimination. He/she should have extensive experience and knowledge of Child Health including Rashtriya Bala Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK), Child Nutrition and health programs , and integration of disease or technical strategy with public health programs,. He or she should be knowledgeable about health system strengthening in order to ensure the seamless integration of TB services. The Consultant is also responsible for coordination of Active Case Finding (ACF) related activities with Central TB Division. The National Consultant is responsible for supporting the Central TB Division on all pediatric TB policy and implementation in public and private health sector in collaboration with National Health Mission, Child health programs, Professional Medical Associations such as Indian Academy of Pediatrics, etc. across seven states and at the national level. The Consultant will be placed at CTD subject to approval, or at the SAATHII-Delhi office.

Job Description


• Providing comprehensive policy insights and strategic support for integration of pediatric TB with child health programs
• Promoting collaboration with child health programs for seamless integration of pediatric TB with child health services, translating policy to implementation through evidence generation and advocacy, and offering technical support and joint monitoring of progress
• Formulating the operational framework for implementation, program and financial feasibility assessments, and advocating for budgetary allocations
• Assisting the CTD, National and State Technical Support Unit, State TB Cell, Child Health Program division in national and state level consultations, joint capacity building and periodic reviews
• Coordinating with national and state-level child health program ad TB program departments and their representatives to engage their state and district units for enhancing field level coordination and tracking
• Provide policy and implementation support for ACF activities through coordination with CTD and other partners at national level
• Establishing systems for Management Information Systems (MIS) related to these integration activities and enhance operational efficiency
• Undertaking any additional tasks associated with integration of pediatric TB as advised by Central TB Division, Child Health Division, strengthening ACF activities, and as required to achieve the desired outcomes.


Required & Preferred Qualifications


Skill

• In-depth knowledge of child health and nutrition programs, health systems and TB program
• Proven abilities in all areas which are detailed under roles and responsibilities section
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Additional knowledge of Hindi and regional language will be an advantage
• Proven ability to develop policy drafts, government directives, and reports that influence decision making and strengthening implementation
• Proven ability to train and mentor staff in program and technical areas and on evidence-based decision making
• Experience in and acumen for use of data (statistical inference) for program improvement and strategy formulation
• Sound computer skills, including use of Internet and MS Office™ software
• Ability to work independently and as a team player in a complex, multicultural environment
• Willing to travel, around 12-15 days, extensively across the country
• Aptitude and proven skills to manage several multi-cultural teams

Education

• Postgraduate in Medicine, Management, Public health, Social Work or allied fields

Experience

• Atleast eight years of experience in design and management of health sector projects, especially child health, nutrition, and TB projects • Proven experience of working at national level
